Yoo Hoo
Thought I might post a wee blog
( 1. Because im bored 2. Because for once I have somthing interesting to discuss. )
Well it has been an eventful June-July hasnt it. Both in the music world and in my own life.
Firstly, what a shock it was learn to that Michael Jackon had died. Even now as im typing this i still find it hard to believe that he is no longer with us. It truly is the loss of a great entertainer and more importantly, a great songwriter. Classics such as ' Beat It ', ' The Way You Make Me Feel ', ' Smooth Criminal ', ' Liberian Girl ', ' Black Or White ', ' Stranger In Moscow ', all from the pen of Michael Jackson, im sure will be listened to for many many years to come. Its a shame that he didnt get to make his comeback at the O2 Arena in London. How great that would have been for everyone who bought a ticket. Its a real waste of such a great talent this is. You have to admit he was someone really special, thats extremely hard to come by these days especially. Im sure everyone now who has listened to his music ( including myself ) is incredibly thankful to have lived and been present in the same generation as him. Putting all the jokes and allegations aside ( I personally dont believe he was guilty of any of the crimes he was accused of ) Its plain to see, there will never be anyone like him ever again. Any interview ive seen him do, his shyness, child-like voice and child-like attitude is quite striking, which personally for me, makes his death all the more sad as it is almost like the death of a child. As stupid as it sounds, thats just my take on it. Obviously no person is invincible, but I never could envision that I would see the death of Michael Jackson The King Of Pop. Now that I have, I still find it hard to accept. It still has not really sunk in. I am not a believer in faith at all by any stretch of the imagination, but I really hope that wherever he is right now, I hope that hes happy and finally has peace. R.I.P. MJ
O.K dry your eyes.
Now onto the world of ME!
Quite an eventful June-July it has been for myself. I shall start of by informing you that I have witnessed the BEST Live show I have witnessed ever!! Over the years I have been to many many live concerts such as, Radiohead, Muse, Stereophonics, Lenny Kravitz, Amy Winehouse, Queen + Paul Rodgers, Electric Six, Graham Coxon, Travis, Red Hot Chili Peppers and so on and so on. All great shows they were...............................However!
On the 2nd of July, at Hyde Park in London, i witnessed the coming together of BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phew!
Yes BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can wholeheartedly say, this is the greatest live performance I have ever witnessed. In 35 degrees heat, i sat and waited through 4 support bands ( 1 Brilliant, 3 SHITE ) for 8 hours. Whilst taking the piss out of some Oasis fans into the bargain, it was time for BLUR!!!!!!!!!! They walked onto the stage to then belt out a blistering 2 hour+ set of some fabulous music. I was right at the front, and Damon Albarn dived on me 3 times :D Everything about this performance was perfect, just perfect. It was better than what I could have hoped for as ripped through classics such as ' Beetlebum ', ' Chemical World ', ' Girls and Boys ', ' Advert ', ' For Tomorrow ', ' The Universal ', ' Country House ', ' Song 2 ' and even the actor Phil Daniels made his appearance to narrate his way through ' Parklife '. Even at this point last year, there seemed to be no chance of Blur getting back together, but now I can proudly say Ive seen them and I wouldnt be hesititant in saying that was their ultimate performance that I witnessed. Damon Albarn looked like he was having more fun than he has had in years, Graham Coxon belted and wailed away through some wonderful guitar playing, Alex James picked and plucked his bass without failing to look like a cool mofo throughout and Dave Rowntree spent the time rediscovering old muscles with his pots and pans distinctive drumming a la Song 2. Hopfully this will result in perhaps one last album from Blur. However if an album comprising of new original material doesnt materialise, I will not be disapointed because now I can say Ive seen them and it was THE BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER WITNESSED!! Viva La Blur!!!!!
In my own music world..................
Yes of course im still writing new material ( its compulsive I cant help it :P ) However I have joined a new band who go by the name of ' Thrones Of Roll '. I joined last month as the Bass Player/ Backing Vocalist :D
So I advise strongly to keep an eye out for us. In only a matter of weeks we will be out gigging across Ireland, and have plans to be performing in the U.K. in the not too distant future as well as making a vast number of radio appearances to promote our upcoming E.P. ' Videostore ', for which an accompanying music video has been made :)
Note: I unfortunately wont be appearing in this music video as it was made with a previous bass player before I joined :( ARSE!! :p
Here is the bands myspace: www.myspace.com/thronesofroll
The band can also be found in my top friends somewhere there.
Aside from that, I aim to have a new song up within the next week or so, maybe 2, we'll see :)
Catch me on IUR FM 7pm on the 24th of July as i discuss Thrones Of Roll, Me, Blur, MJ, Me, Me, Me, Oh and Me :)
Well thats all I have to say for today, if anyone has actually read this, I hope it was of some interest to you :)
And now I bid you adieu
P.S. Oh and i got a new job as well :) I start on the 3rd of August :D
Toodles!!!
