Next up is Trigger Disciple from Sandy Hook. They've been around since 2005 and consist of Daniel on vocals, Franki and Norm on guitars, Rob on the bass and Brian on drums. To me the band has a sound that draws from the old(ish) school of bands like Pantera as well as newer bands like Lamb of God. They have a very loose sound that is at the same time very controlled, if that makes any sense to you. It comes off as a group that knows their stuff very well and is having real fun playing the music as opposed to just pounding out heavy riffs for the sake of being heavy ("March Of The Disciples" is a good example of this). Their songs are filled with very tightly played double stop full band hits and drummer Brian does a great job at filling in the holes left by the band in these instances. I also like the break in the action for the sung vocal part in "Fall Rise Overcome" and the guitar solos in this one also caught my attention as being well played and thought out just enough to not sound sloppy and off the cuff. The use of very quick double kicks under a half time octave guitar riff in "Apocalypse At Hand" is a nice change from all the speedy riffing and along with the clean section and blues influenced solo, gives the song a little something different that helps it stand out from the rest of the tracks.

Trigger Disciple know how to blend the old with the new and their use of both "styles" of metal gives them an advantage over some of the straight hardcore bands of today. I can tell that not much, if any, Pro Tools-ing (trust me, that's a real word in the language of bands and studio engineers) going on with this band and that tells me that when you go see a Trigger Disciple show, you're going to get exactly what you hear on the net. Speaking of going to see the band, if you feel like taking a little road trip, you can see them in Cincinnati on the Rock For Wishes Tour on October 24th and in Huntington, WVa at Shamrocks on October 25th.
