over the past few days i have been thinking about the actual need for borders that seperate people and the space they claim. sometimes i feel like some of the ideas we have come to accept are extremely primitive. as far as we know, our civilization is one of a kind. not only that, but EARTH is the only place we know of where life even exists. we are utterly alone in a vast place that we know very little about.
despite those circumstances, we have literally and figuratively chosen to isolate ourselves from one another by creating borders that separate us. we are ONE civilization and we are all 99.9 % identical. the selfishness and greed of people and governments drives this sort of idea that we need to be separated. why cant we travel where we want? why cant we live where we want? why is there so much constriction? why are people still starving and drinking dirty water?
IMAGINE HOW MUCH MORE WE COULD ACCOMPLISH IF WE ONLY WORKED TOGETHER INSTEAD OF COMPETING WITH EACH OTHER. why is there so much doubt, negativity, and wrong notions about each other? there are alot of things going on in the world that you wont hear about in the news. knowledge is power and we should be educatiing ourselves. its everyones responsibility to see to it that truth becomes knowledge. changes should not be overlooked just for the convenience of keeping things the way they are.
we are all in this together and so we should be working together on every level. we should be trying to get off this rock and expand our reach out into space together. energy and healthcare should be free, there is no reason to capitalize on these needs like we have been.
do you actually wonder how isolated we are? check this out....
THE MOON is 238,000 mi away. it takes us 3-4 days to get there.
MARS is never closer than 34,000,000 (million) miles away
JUPITER is 390,682,810 (million) miles from earth
THE SUN is 93,000,000 (million) miles from earth. it takes LIGHT 8.3 minutes to reach us travelling at 186,000 miles per second.
it takes us YEARS to traverse these distances with current rocket technology in our own empty little neighborhood.
our closest star is ALPHA CENTAURI and it is 4.2 LIGHT YEARS away. we are sure there is no life there but it would take us over 100,000 years to reach it for a one way trip. this is the CLOSEST object outside of our solar system.
our solar system has only 1 single small star we call the Sun, and we are on the outer edge of the Milky Way Galaxy which consists of 200-400 Billion stars.
THE MILKY WAY is 120,000 light years across. that means IF we could travel at 186,000 miles per second, it would take us 120,000 years to get to the other side. no doubt, with current rocket technology, the amount of time it would take to make this journey would be something like a one followed by a hundred zeros.
so, if you really think about it, the life that exists here on Earth is the most precious commodity ever known. as far as we know, it exists nowhere else.
WHAT IS THE NEED FOR BORDERS?
