Category: Travel and Places

It's been awhile so I thought I'd write a quick blog before leaving on my vacation. I'm leaving tonight to stay in a hotel in Pittsburgh and then flying out tomorrow morning to Reno! The USBC national bowling tournament is the excuse to go. We bowl 2 days (Thurs and Fri) but are staying out there till the following Wednesday so it should be an awesome time! It will be really nice to be out of work and totally free for an entire week to do as I please in a place with bowling, gambling, and much else to get into.

Work has been going alright of late, but the biggest news as I interviewed for another job with the bank last Friday. The position is financial services counselor at the High Street office. My duties would entail opening accounts, CD'S, learning about lending, and handling customer questions face to face. I'm really hopeful to come back nad hear I got the job. I've been working as teller for a year and 7 months at the Sabraton office and am more than ready for a new challenge.

Bowling has been an up and down battle all year. After struggling badly early this past season, I came on a bit and had 2 300 games, an 800 series, and a 299 all within one week at the end of the season. This summer I'm bowling in a PBA pattern league and it has definately been a challenge. First place is $1,200 a man and our team has a very good shot at it.

Besides that there hasn't really mich else going on with me to speak of. I've been out with a few girls lately, but nothing happening there really. For the first time in awhile I've been sorta content being single and able to go and do as I please this summer. Well I guess that's about it for now. Thanks for taking the time to read my life's ramblings and leave a comment. Later on!

By popular demand I'll give an abbreviated rundown of the Reno trip :-). I flew out of Pittsburgh with Justin and Joe. We were originally supposed to fly to San Francisco and then to Reno but US Airways was all messed up. We wound up flying into Las Vegas and then to Reno instead. They were trying to pass blame on everyone and their brother for us having seats and seat numbers even but no flight reservations. So we made it into Reno at about 1:30 Pacific time and picked up our rental car. After checking out the cool room we had for a grand total of about 15 minutes, the gambling binge started. I found a seat in the poker room and played for a good while. We bowled team event the next day and didn't do very good. The national bowling stadium was pretty wild though. There was 78 lanes total and the ceiling and atmosphere was like no one else I'd ever bowled. The next day we finished up our bowling with doubles follwed by singles event. I had my best series of the tournament in doubles (lowly 586) and will get a few bucks back since Justin did pretty well (622). Singles event didn't go very well (523). So that was it for all the bowling we had to do, which left pletny of time for gambling and drinking. At one point I was up over $1,000 but wound up giving most of it back. I pretty much lived in the poker room those next couple days until we decided to go sightseeing the last 2 days of the trip. We chartered a boat and went fishing on Lake Tahoe. It was really beautiful as you can see from the pictures. I didn't wind up catching anything but a few of the guys reeled in some nice sized trout. Once we grabbed some grub we checked out Ech Summit, CA which was also quite the sight. Our last day there we went and checked out Virginia City, NV which was set up like the old west. Before long it was time to start the journey back. The flight and checking in to get from Reno to San Francisco went perfect, but once we got there we ran into the same problem. US Airways didn't have our reservations again eventhough we were sworn to in Pittsburgh that it was all taken care of. After much waiting and bickering we finally got on the plane and made it home about 6am Eastern time. All told we bowled like crap, lost/spent a good bit of $, but a great time was had by all.

Chuck, I'm a big poker fan and play a decent amount on Poker Stars for $. We should go up to the Downs here in a month or two and take all of the rednecks money. It'll be easy. :)
