I love to watch the flatland contest because some of it is just unbelievable! I would also have to say the street style ramps (graffiti and all) was freakin sick! My favorite Free Agent rider has got to be hands down Tom Haugen, simply because I rode with him up in MN! Frank Stewart of Chaos on Wheels and I went up there a while back.

This is a great idea, however it's been brought to my attention that you can only leave a blog comment here if you are a friend to Free Agent on Myspace and the Free Agent Myspace has it set so you can only friend request them if you know their email or last name.

People are trying to enter this contest, but can't because they aren't able to friend request Free Agent without knowing the last name or email. You can easily change this setting though if you go into your account settings.

My favorite Free Agent rider has to be the gold medal winner, Maris Strombergs. He is a really fast rider. He always seems so determined. The best thing about the Toronto BMX Jam is the list of riders. That is a very HEALTHY list. Live to ride.ride to live.

hey, i think the BEST thing about the toronto bmx jam is that you can learn more tricks from other riders, and if you keep entering the contests, u can become a better rider each time.

My favorite freeagent team rider would probably be Christian Becerine because of his skill and determination and setting his goal to live out his dream.

- Who your FAVORITE Free Agent Team Rider is.

My favorite team rider is Tom Haugen. He rides smooth as butter as well as been riding for years. I love the way he picks his nose lol I mean nose picks. The five forty nose picks he does are amazing. He has so much bike control. He riders every thing dirt, street, flatland, park, vert.

- What the BEST thing about the Toronto BMX Jam

The most original thing I seen in the Toronto Jam video is Charlie Crumlishe’s front flip roll in thing. It looks easy to do but its not. Rolling toward a ledge that high while doing it is nuts. I saw someone do something like that in the grass in a way old video called slow ride. The last trick with Harry Main’s flair to foot jam at the end was nuts. The Toronto Jam looks like a laid back good time, just as BMX should be.

I don’t know a whole lot of anything when it comes to bmx and am only able to comment based on my own experience.
Having never been to any other event of this kind, I have nothing to compare it to and can only provide a response to your question as a fresh face among the audience…

I came to the event on Sunday with my three year old daughter and was initially concerned that the eight hour day would take a toll on her temperament but she was so completely taken with all that was going on around her that she sat in silence for most of the day just taking it all in. That is, with the exception of Brandon Dosch’s riding which caused her to let out a whispered “cool” on more than one occasion. Because I was with a young child, we moved frequently throughout the event and were able to take in the excitement from several different angles as determined by her limited attention span.

The riders in the flatland section were nothing short of amazing. I’m not sure how they manage half of the stuff that they do but I can only imagine how much patience, dedication, and concentration one must have to excel in that area.
They were certainly a bunch of focused riders!

On the street side, the riding all day long was awe-inspiring and pushed all kinds of limits. I, personally, was most impressed with Andre Postell’s flip during finals (I don’t know enough technically to explain the jump so I hope that you know the one). I’m not sure what would be most impressive to a dialed rider with a trained eye but to me, that flip was unbelievable. The fact that someone would even attempt a stunt like that was amazing but to succeed was incredible. After that, my daughter turned to me and said, “Mommy, now I know why we wear our helmets” before turning back to watch the competition.
You can’t put a price tag on understanding and that comment was far more valuable to me than four times the cost of admission – so, thank you, Toronto BMX Jam 2009!

As far as my favourite Free Agent team rider goes, that would have to be Tom Haugen. I don’t know much about the bmx community and don’t want to discredit the other riders on the team based on my limited exposure but Tom is the only one whom has been given the opportunity to make an impression on me. And he has. His charisma and stellar taste in music aside, one of his greatest strengths is that he makes himself accessible to others. In this day and age, when our personal information and statistics on our performance are readily available to others through online forums, it is difficult to find someone who takes the time to personally connect with those who look up to them and Tom goes out of his way to do this. I’m not talking about frequent blogging, updated profiles, or chat sessions. I’m referring mainly to words of support and encouragement. It becomes very easy, when you become skilled at any sport, to forget that you were once new and unfamiliar yourself. It is because of his ability to mentor and nurture others that I admire Tom Haugen, not just as a rider but also as an individual.
Helping others achieve their own potential is a very noteworthy attribute to possess in all professions, not only within the world of bmx, and Free Agent is truly lucky to have him…

;o)

I cant wait to watch Tom Haugen . =] I'd like the bike because i jus had to sell mine to get food for the house. Mom and dad split up and im just with my mom who as of thursday has cancer, And i really doubt with all the treatments and money included i will get a new bike. Plz and not just for the sympathy, for the willingness to let a bmxer ride and continue to ride even thru rough times.

The Toronto BMX Jam has some of the best looking ramp set ups, the pics come out amazing, and the riders pull off some sick stunts!! I look forward to what the contests ahead bring to BMX!! Tom Haugen is one amazing rider. He is definitely my favorite.
You can tell how much he loves the sport when you watch him ride! His skills on the ramps are on point, and he does the best 360 double-tail whip!!!!!

My favorite free agent rider is definitely Tom Haugen because he not only is an amazing rider but he is a good role model for all the kids out there that want to ride bmx. The best part about the Toronto BMX Jam is the atmosphere. It is a complete adrenaline rush. It always inspires me to go after my own dreams and take chances.
I love it!

Maris Strombergs would have to be my favorite, because of his dedication to the sport, he was able to be one of the first BMX Olympians. The Toronto Jam was that everyone was wearing helmets. Too many times I see guys in videos and magazines with no helmets.
Protect yourself, so you can ride tomorrow!

Well I guess I'll try this again since it didn't work last night! Ok, so my son & I totally agree that TOM HAUGEN is so totally our fav rider! He is such a great guy and very patient, watching him around other kids at Paradise Skate in Merritt Island is so fun. He gives kids encouragement to just peddle and go. He gives direction and tips to kids that try to keep up with him. Ok, so we love watching contests because its just sick watching some of the tricks! Even witnessing some of the falls and seeing a rider get up afterwards is sick! Lol. Watching ramping & the vert is our fav. The riders make it look soooo easy! But after getting a peg into my shin...um, ya....so not THAT easy!! LOL. Down here in Central Florida, we always try to make it to any local contest to watch riders that put us in awe.
To all riders: Keep it up!!!

I agree with the post below. Flatland is totally underrated. I'm glad you have coverage of that because so many other contests dont even include the genre. Its time flatlanders get some respect too. My favorite rider would have to be Maris Strombergs, I mean Gold medal. Hello...

My favorite FA rider is Tom Haugen his bike control is out of this world and he makes everything look easy while do it so smooth.

The absolute best thing about the Toronto BMX Jam is the almost 80 pro riders that show up and show off.
I don't care where you hold a jam if you have that kind of talent show up in that kind of force you know your going to have a show, a party, and one hell of a good time!
