A few weeks ago I was having a lot of irritation in my right eye. Truth be told, I felt like I had been punched repeatedly in the eye by an angry munchkin with a stick covered in salt and poop. Needless to say, I went to the eye doc and got checked out. I found out it wasn't anything serious, but I was not going to be able to wear my contacts for a couple months. Usually, this would be no big deal, but being as I had lost my glasses and new ones were going to be 10 days out, I was going to be walking blind.
Now, let me now say that I am not totally blind without my glasses or contacts. I just can't see anything farther than 5 feet away with any definition whatsoever. I didn't think this would be that bad, but that thought was destroyed within the first day of initial thought. Here are a few things that completely sucked:
1. Going to any type of store to find any type of anything was a horrible undertaking.
2. Driving at night in the fog proved to be near death experiences at every turn.
3. I annoyed and insulted friends when I didn't wave nor acknowledge that I even knew them when they would pass by. I would just give a sheepish smile and either keep moving or continue doing whatever I was doing at the time.
4. I ran into some things. Pretty embarrassing to run into a window with a coffee you've made for a Starbuck's customer and spill it all over yourself.
Then, I finally got my new glasses! Holy Crap, I'm blind. I felt like I had just been reborn. It was like seeing my world for the first time. I was overjoyed to be able to see my friends again from more than 5 feet away. Plus, I no longer had to lean in real close to see who I was talking to or next to.
Note to self: Never lose my glasses again.
