On Sunday 25th October we present Asakusa Jinta (Live) direct from Japan!
Asakusa Jinta are a six-piece Japanese group who take their name from the Tokyo historic district where jintas (roving Japanese street bands) once filled the streets. Their music is a mixture of punk, ska, swing, and march music - or as they prefer "hard march".
Live their performance is a vibrant, almost frantic experience, featuring outlandish costumes, chindon'ya (a traditional Japanese street performance) and accompanied by a fantastically accelerated mash of accordion, brass section, guitar, bass, and drums .
The band literally crashed into the western consciousness with a series of festival performances, inc. SxSW in Austin, Lowlands, Stockholm's “Kulturfestival” and Finland's “Helsinki Festival” where they often confound audiences by marching off the stage and into the crowd.
Please join us for a rare opportuinity to see this phenomenally enteraining live band in our very own Sub Club in Glasgow.
