Current mood:  chipper
This was by far the best SXSW experience I've ever had thanks in part to my girlfriend Val who put up with me the whole 5 days. I'm still pumped about some of the acts I saw and new music I heard. Things all got started when my brother, my lovely girlfriend and I attended the Iheartcomix Kickoff Party!

Of course it took a while to get in, but it was well worth it just for the free stuff we got: A-Trak's new mix on OBEY, 2 T-shirts, a triple 5 soul bag and varoius other goodies. Ohh and of course free beer and mixed drinks! I know how to pick my party spots.

When we first got in I believe Franki Chan was djing and coincidentally he's going to be the next artist featured at the MFAH music series. After him was some wack indie rock band, but following them was Lo-Fi Fink from Sweden. I had no idea who these guys were until I downloaded a random remix they made only a couple of days before.

I really like this band cause they had a very danceable sound which you can help but bounce to. Peep the technique. I'm not sure if Valerie was digging the show as much.

J/k I know she was enjoying herself. That dude on the left side of that second pic was actually in my high school orchestra. He played violin and he was pretty damn good. Anywayz even my bro got into the act....here he is applauding someone.

After Lo-Fi Fink performed, Franki Chan djed a little more then the World Champion DMC and ITF title holder, scratch dj pimp since about the age of 13, motherfucking, Dj A-Trak stepped up to the wheels of steel. It was an amazing set! Allot of the stuff he played can be heard on this album:

I didn't get any pics of A-trak that night cause my ish ran out of battery power. I got to get some good pics the next couple of days of him and his new main squeeze Kid Sister!

In case you all don't know who Kid Sister is you can check out her new record label that was put together by A-Track and Nick Catchdubs (from eastvillageradio's "the Let out").

The label is called Fool's Gold and will definetly be a big success. This was the first time I had seen Kid Sister live and was a bit worried she might sound a little different in person cause she sounds hella good on cd. I was feeling it from the first song to the very last. This girl has got talent and she's cute as a button! Pics soon to come.

Overall it was a great way to start off things in Austin. All the free drinks and stuff made me very excited about the days yet to come. Once we left that show we ran into Cee Plus and his wife Kim and they tooks us to this random bar they love to hit up when they visit Austin. He also introduced us to one of the main contributors to the Austinist which is a really cool site that helps you keep up to date with events around town.

Stay tuned for more SXSW crazziness!
