The man behind all those great early Elvis songs like, "That's Alright" "Baby Lets Play House"and "Hound Dog" has My CD : )
When I was little I got a hold of "Elvis' Sun Sessions" LP and I was floored not only By the Rawness and the Untouchable Voice of Elvis himself, But also by this Cat named Scotty Moore on Guitar. If your Familiar with The Sun Sessions,
You'll know that most of those songs were only 3 guys( Like the Stray Cats!)...Elvis on Vocals and acoustic, Bill Black on Upright Bass and Scotty Moore on Guitar. Because of not having a drummer on most of these songs, Scotty used his unique Pickin' style and pretty much took everything he knew and filled in any open spots to compensate the lack of a drummer. This was the Birth of Rock-N-Roll and Rock-A-billy Music. I remember being about 10 and hearing a track Called "Just Because" off the album and I was in Aw over his playing. I wore that record out trying to pick out what he was doing. Scotty went on to influence so many greats after....people Like George Harrison ( Another Favorite of mine) Jimmy Page, Albert Lee, Brian setzer and the chain continues. I have always said if It wasn't for Scotty Moore and George Harrison I may have never picked up the guitar.
These guys were/are my guitar idols.
A few moths back I was lucky enough to Meet Scotty's daughter here on Myspace... I say lucky because she is a nice very warm hearted person who I have great talks with. I have told her many times the admiration I have for her Dad, and was wondering If I could send him my Cd.
She said Yes and I sent Her and Her Son who is also a wonderful musician, and Scotty Himself My Bring It Home CD. I just wanted to give something Back to the man who has influenced me as a musician. It was a wonderful feeling when I heard he had received it : )
