It was time to get out of town. Kenny needed a ride to Monterey and I wanted to see some more of the state. Enjoy the photo essay of our trip.

First stop was dinner at Juliano's where Mike Y joined us. After the meal we met up w/
Brian and then went skating on the beach till traffic died down.

None of us had any moves for the world famous triple set. It's MASSIVE>

The Santa Monica pier is in the background.

Brian gets down on the NATAS curbs which we were really surprised to find unwaxed.

On a borrowed board, Ken pop shuvs the sand pit in Santa Monica.
Once back on the road about 7:30 we drove to Bakersfield and up into the Kern River
Canyon and slept in the car at the parking lot above Remington Hot Spring.

Kenny is freezing his ass off right here. Barefoot going down the 1/4 mile trail to
the hot springs... 6am.

Remington Hot Springs in my shangra la/. I love it here!

Casualty of war. A little slip there gave Kenny a souvenir.
From Remington we took a B line West and linked up on Highway 1. Drove by Hearst Castle then on up into the twisty coastal towns of Big Sur and Montery.

Kenny takes a brief nap on the coast.

This beach on the Big Sur coast was outstanding, I wanted to get to the sand, but that was not allowed.

Kenny's balancing act was terrific and terrifying.

I dropped Kenny w/ Brittany in Pebble Grove.
I drove into San Fran on Saturday night and slept in the car. In the morning I went to the skatepark.

A shot of Potrero Skatepark on a SUNDAY morning.. that's John Cardiel sitting down in the middle.

I ate the majority of my meals at Cafe Gratitude in the Mission.

Mission SKate Shop is the closest shop to Potrero and a customer of mine.
I met up with Heidi in the afternoon.

Prepping for the bike ride through Golden Gate park and out to OCEAN BEACH.

Danger. Too cold to get in the water anyway.

Heidi at the beach.

Grabbed a groovy RAW meal at Judahlicious.

Biking back to the Mission, I ran into Andreas Trolf on the sidewalk and we walked and chatted.
Monday I saw Keegan and skated the park. Ate at Gratitude and then met Heidi and Steve for dinner. As the rain was slated to move in on TUES, I elected to break out of town and push further north on Tuesday morning. After traffic died down, I made the 2 hour drive to Harbin Hot Springs. Cameras/cell phones are strictly forbidden. I soaked in the rain, did my first ever YOGA class, watched a movie, and slept in a bunk room. The next morning I soaked again, did yoga again, and hoped to be able to stay another day. No dice... they had no room for me. So I drove to Santa Rosa in hopes of seeing Dan Van der Mark. Ate at whole foods and watched SUNSHINE CLEANING. Never heard from Dan so I started drivin back to SF. About half way there, I made a detour and drove WEST to the coast. Getting drowsy, I pulled over and slept for about an hour. Then was abruptly distrurbed by a highway patrolman telling me I couldn't sleep there. So I drove a little further and hid the car in a neighborhood where I slept undisturbed til after dawn.

This is the ramp at PROOFLAB in Marin. Too wet.

Coming back into the city after my night on the coast, I stopped at the Marin Headlands and got this shot of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The disc golf course was FREE and Awesome. Lots of tree obstacles.

I wandered into the Botanical Gardens after a tasty meal at Gratitude Cafe #2.

Pretty purple flowers.

Got this angle on the Bay Bridge when I ventured into DOWNTOWN to pick Heidi up from work.

I'd hoped to actually take a tour of the ROCK, but this shot from the Marina is the closest I got to Alcatraz.

After getting my meal dropped in my lap at ALIVE, we hiked out to the Sea Organ. It wasn't playing much of a tune, but was cool to see in person.

This is the spot of the recent Brian ANDERSON skateboard mag cover. I went down there
to take the BART into downtown from the mission.

The underground BART station.

The GONZ gap was right here back in the 90's

I went up to Coit Tower for my first time. Most of the killer views were obstructed by vegetation, but it was still sweet to be there.

Heidi explains the views. "It'll be better from down there!"

So many damned stairs to get up there... as always it was easier going down.

Brent Atchley was lurking at Pier 7. Looks sorta skateable.

Wierd beards! We went to an art opening that showcased photos of eccentric beards.
Saturday morning Heidi and I packed the car and drove to ORR Hot Springs for a camping mission. Again.. no cameras.. It was in a idealic setting and the the camp spot was 3 feet from a bubbling creek. We soaked and soaked, then assembled food in the communal kitchen. Right after we ate, I ran into a couple who had the most amazing RAW meal before them. I inquired and they let me sample everything. We bonded magnificiently.
Soaked some more as it got dark, then it was to the tent. I slept great with the
stream noises soothing my soul. I was up at dawn and right to the hot pools. I overdid it and barfed. Took some time out and ate breakfast....watched the deer...enjoyed the beautiful setting....
We packed up the camp and soaked one last time...made some lunch and drove back to SF.
From there it was off to collect Kenny in Santa Cruz.

Reunion dinner at Saturn Cafe in Santa Cruz.

Kenny on the short hike up to LAS CRUCES hot spring.

It was my first time to Las Cruces, but it won't be the last....
This fella told us that the road to the BIG CALIENTE hot springs near Santa Barbara was washed out....so we opted out of attempting that adventure. Southbound and down we got home to SD by 2:30 on MONDAY.
