Current mood:  triumphant

So last Friday KatCorbett amazingly asked us down to the KROQ studio for an interview.  Manley picked us up in his A-Team van (minus the red stripe) and somehow wemanaged to arrive super-unfashionably early if there is such a thing.  The security guard knew who we were though (always a good sign) and the receptionist said we could hang out in the fun area since Kat was still prepping for the interview.  We snapped a bunch of dopey pics, played fooz ball, and pretended to play video games (no quarters)  - which kinda reminded me of when I was a kid and desperately wanting to play videogames and not having any quarters (or any money for that matter).  So you pretend you're actually playing the game demo which is not really that fun.

Kat came in and whisked us out of KROQ purgatory and into the main studiowhere Carson Daly was filling in for Jed the Fish for the week.  It was absolute insanity.  I thought KROQ would be just like any other corporate radio station but we walked into tequila shots, random screaming, beers sweating in ice, Jerry Springer on TV, and the Police's "Message In a Bottle" - all good omens.  Carson & co, couldn't have been cooler and he even took the time to show us how the control board worked and pretty much how to play DJ.  I was amazed at how so much now in technology  has boiled down now to just clicking and dragging shit around.

So a few cervezas and margaritas later Kat ushers us into another studio and we're basically just chewing the fat for a few minutes before she tells us that the interview is in progress.  In the other studio before we felt a bit like deer caught in the headlights nowwe were just drunk deer caught in the headlights.  (Try to imagine a drunken deer and you've got it).  I don't remember much since it was info-overload and my brain was trying to process so many things at once but I do know it was damn fun.  And it felt like it only lasted a minute.  Before we knew it we were signing our names next to Interpol, Great Northern, and Queens of the Stone Age which is amazing company to be scrawling a signature next to.   Then Kat had us smack our band sticker on the infamous KROQ Coke machine and I think we got a prime location for the sticker.  Before we knew it we had snapped some more pics, gave our goodbye hugs and were standing in the parking lot wondering where we could get tacos.  It was a great day.

You can listen to the whole interview here:

part 1: part 2: part 3

To sum things up: Part 1 we are sorta tipsy.  Part 2 we are half in thebag.  Part 3 we were wondering what the hell just happened.
