Hey Y'all

Here's another little unreleased b-side gem from your friends The Shys. "High Life". This tune is from the same session as the last B-Side ("Well Connected") and also features our part time horn section "The Guru Crew".

The story behind this song ...

While on a major label and working on songs for what would become our sophomore record we had a difficult time trying to convince our label to let us make another record, so we turned in demo after demo (songs like The Hangman, She's Already Gone, & many others on our second album)  in an effort to persuade them into allowing us go record the album and put it out. But apparently they didn't dig those tunes enough to pull to trigger so in an effort to get the green light I wrote this song "High Life" with its sarcastically themed lyrics (a sort of jab at the politics of the music business) set to an upbeat light hearted pop song (just the sort of thing they like). Oh the irony, but what started as sort of a joke turned into a song everyone seemed to enjoy.
