Musae concludes its 5th Anniversary Season with a special concert in collaboration with the acclaimed Bossa Five-O, a Bay Area bossa nova band. The Road Home features the rhythms of Brazil, Africa, and Hawaii alongside favorite melodies and texts of the European and American traditions. Audience members will journey “home” with Brian Holmes’ "I Shall Keep Singing," Princess Lili'uokalani's "Ahe Lau Makani," Allister MacGillivray's "Song for the Mira," Brazilian classics "Más Que Nada," "Tico-Tico," and "Tutú Marambá," and a new arrangement of Lennon and McCartney’s "The Long and Winding Road." Musae will also premiere its 5th Anniversary Season composition competition winners: "Muse Light" by David Smith and "When I Have Fears That I May Cease to Be" by Graham Meyer.
This concert is supported in part by San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music and by the Zellerbach Family Foundation/the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
