For this weeks Artist Of The Week, I'm bringing you someone that is a little closer to home for me. His name is
Dave Elwert, and he's from right here in Indiana.
To start this off, let me have Dave speak for himself. When questioned about where his music comes from, this is what he has to say -
I write as a way to process my thoughts, express my joys, bleed my sorrows, or sometimes just to imagine the world from a different place.
After reading that, when you listen to this 25 year olds music, you will start to feel what each song represents and could have meant to him while writing. At the same time, you will be able to see how his words may relate to your own life.
Dave has been influenced by several people, Hornsby, Mayer, Coldplay, and all the greats he grew up listening to from Springsteen to Motown. All of these different people and styles can be heard in the music that he is creating today.
His first CD,
"The Battle Of Directon" was released in 2007 and directly relates to that period of his life. This 10 song CD contains some great tunes that is full of all those that have influenced him over the years.
The latest project he's working on is a series of 5 song EP's titled,
"This Is My World". The first one, Part 1, has been released and the next should be coming out later this Fall.
My feelings about this series of EP's is that it's a great idea. No other way can we get all the great music that is being written by him, without certain songs being dropped to make sure they all fit to one CD. I myself can't wait for Part 2, and any others that follow it.
Dave Elwert is a man that does this because he loves it, it's in him, and he needs to share it with us. For those reasons, his music is offered to us on a "Pay What You Want" basis. He say's
"So here it is, no strings attached. Enjoy! If even a fraction of one my songs resonates with somebody else (maybe you), consider that my “paycheck”.
I have had the chance to see Dave perform, and met briefly with him before his show. In those few moments that I spoke with him, I came to realize that he is exactly the person that I had been listening to on his CD's. Let me explain that, I have been lucky to have met a few of the artist that I have been a fan of, and I can say that only a couple of them have came across like they do in their music.
I would encourage you to pay Dave Elwert as visit. You can find him at
www.myspace.com/daveelwert , and you will soon be listening to one of your new favorite artist.
After you visit his page, go on over to

Peace --}
