i have to say, that i never expected to hear grade school and middle school students play my piece, Escape Wisconsin. well, i've been pleasantly surprised.
under the direction of Jennifer Undercofler, students at the Merkin Hall School (here in Manhattan) have started a new music ensemble called, face the music. to my amazement, they've been playing my piece better than i could have ever played it at their age!
check out their video of Escape Wisconsin here

Caleb, thanks for the plug!

For the record, we did a much better performance last night than we did on October 18th! The kids have been practicing. Hopefully we'll get that video up soon...

the electric bass solo made my day.

i also liked that the camera was panned onto the flautist for the solo, and she chuckled as it began. ha.

Ah! This is great!! i filmed the jazz experiment "Sewer Rats" playing at the School for Deaf Children last year...the kids danced the whole time. Those who could hear were wincing and looking at their watches. A link to the worst footage of them ever. It works actually.
