It has always been a dream of ours to play Fort Reno and last night our dream came true!
For those of you who don't know, Fort Reno is an old civil war fort in Washington, DC. 145 years ago it saw battle action. Today Fort Reno is the site for one of the most renown concert series in the DC area. Located in the Tenelytown area of Washington, DC, the Fort Reno shows have been home to Fugazi, the Dismemberment Plan, and Q and Not U. We grew up going to these shows, watching our brothers, dad, and boyfriends play there year after year just waiting for the day we might grace the stage ourselves.
Last night, June 22nd, we were honored to be the very first band to play the 2009 season of free biweekly concerts! It went swimmingly. (big big thanks to Andrew [Slimboo] Guterman who joined us for the first time on drums.) We met some great new people, played with two wonderful DC area bands - Funk Ark and Pash - and enjoyed a beautiful (and unseasonably unbuggy and non-humid) DC sunset.
Thanks to everyone who came out. It was great to see old friends, too. And for those of you who missed it - or if you were there and just can't get enough Sweater Set - please check out our review on Brightest Young Things:
