I shot some video of Jaime Sorted's opening set for Pendulum, despite security telling me a couple of times to stop shooting. "Pictures all you want," he said, "but no video."
The first thing I noticed when I walked into the venue was that I hardly knew anyone there. The usual suspects from the scene were totally absent. It was full of high school kids, really. There even seemed to be a designated row of seating for parents at the back. But I was psyched about seeing Pendulum play live. I had seen all the YouTube bits and thought, Fuck it. $16. I missed them last time they were in town...
Sorted played a nice set of music, playing funky rollers with the occasional techy numbers like Mayhem & Noisia's "Choke."
For the video, Surora's "Blue Planetary Night" was an excellent choice for the audio. The track represents the hard w/ the smooth sounds of the set. And it's a great plug for my crew!
