Matt's brain is still intact!
I managed to rescue Matt's brain from exploding at Easter and work on the mixing continues at a good pace. We are full steam ahead and on target to have some first mixes by the end of this month/beginning of May.
In the meantime we are well into writing a second new track in a new set of material. Both new tracks are proving to be on the epic side at between 5 and 6 minutes in length. We aim to write two more tracks (one of which promises to be super short and snappy - in a very Add N to X way) and then head back into the studio to capture them fresh. This will mean that we could be looking to play the new tracks live sometime this summer.
As for the tracks on the upcoming album we made a big effort to cut the fat and strip each track down to its most punchy and dynamic form. Tracks range from the 3 minute mark to up to 6 minutes + and sonics range from electronic to subtle orchestral textures (sometimes all in the same song). Anyway, these are just my thoughts on the album so far.
As mixing has continued we have been developing ideas for album artwork and it will be interesting to see which route we take. We have been considering everything from a photographic approach to an illustrative style.
Then there is the album title and we are bouncing ideas around - all will be revealed in good time!
Trumpets?
Enjoy the sunshine!
