Current mood:  tired
A year ago, I had never heard of Watchmen. I had no idea it was a comic book and I certainly did not know they were making a movie about it. When the trailer came out last year, Jason started freaking out and talking about how awesome it was supposed to be. The trailer itself was pretty cool, especially with the Smashing Pumpkins song in the background.

The first thing that made me want to see it was the cast. I love Patrick Wilson, I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and I think the chick (who I knew from 27 dresses) is pretty. Those 3 alone were enough to make me go see it. So we buy our tickets for the midnight showing, knowing full well that we will only get 3 hours of sleep that night and will probably be zombies at work the next day.  I'm chugging down doubleshots and soda just to stay awake and it was the first time I had been to the Channelside Imax.

When the movie was over, the first thing I thought was... that it was awesome. I liked "300" and I like how this particular director makes everything look, from the blood puddles to the giant spinning glass thing on Mars, it's all very visually stimulating. I thought the casting was fantastic, I don't think they could've picked better actors for the characters. The soundtrack was phenomenal because it was great to hear rock classics from the different decades that it was going through.

Warning: it was definitely very graphic. Nicole and I did not realize we were going to see so much wang in that movie and Patrick Wilson does what he does best... gets naked. The violence was really graphic too and I had to turn my head so I didnt see them saw off a guy's arms or break someone's leg.

All in all, for someone who never read the comic or had even heard about it before, I think it was a great movie. I've read a lot of reviews that say the newcomers will feel lost and alienated when watching the movie but I never felt that way. Everyone should definitely go see it, even if you haven't read the comic.
