ERICSLIDE playing his beloved James Trussart

... and JEANMI CHAPRON with one beautiful Rickenbacker!

Well, the inevitable happened... After hearing of my collaboration with Eric on my previous song LEAVE YOUR NAME, JeanMi asked me tongue in cheek if he could add an "English guitar" on the tune. After he explained to me that an English guitar was a way of playing the guitar, not the actual guitar, I said: "OK JeanMi, you can put an English guitar on my next song!". I barely made it back to the studio, when this melody started to shape up in my mind. I grabbed an acoustic and within 5 minutes, JeanMi had his tune! It's called THE CHOICE. I also told Eric about the song and the fact that I did not want to handle any of the electric guitars, so I would stick to the acoustic, JeanMi would play rhythm, and Eric would take care of the lead. It was a go! A week later, I sent each of them a wave file containing the mix of the drums, bass, acoustic guitar and vocals. It took a grand total of 3 days for them to come back with their parts, 2 tracks from JeanMi and 4 from Eric, wow! These two gentlemen played their hearts out, and their contribution to the recording is simply magical! I think the results speak for themselves...
Enjoy!

PS: Since I haven't figured out how to tag pictures, you will have to go to my top friends to visit with Eric and JeanMi... Sorry about that!

I'm just pulling your leg, bro! I don't know, but just wildly imagine something like this decides to take off out of the blue, that would be sort of scary, I suppose! Oh, what the hell, better scared than sitting around doing nothing... Let's do it again soon!

Didn't I ?

Well, I first tried with a 330 Rick, but it seemed to me your song needed another sound.
More twang than jangle...
So I plugged a standard Strat into a virtual AC30, added some chorus and delay, and that's it.
The two tracks I sent were made with the Strat.
Maybe a Ricky (or two ?!) on a new Francis song ?

Nice Strat JeanMi! Nonetheless, I have noticed that the pick-ups on it do not look like Fender pick-up... For one thing, they have the magnets glued on the bottom instead of the poles being the magnets themselves... Can you clarify this for me? What kind of pick-ups are these?

They are absolutely Mexican Fender Standard pick-ups, Francis !
I just replaced the pick guard, on this guitar.
Nothing else !

This one is not a American Made.

When I say "my guitar sounds British and speaks English", it's about my Ricky.

Hi JeanMi, I have never used a Mexican Strat, nor worked on one, that explains. I have a 1979 model and a new American Deluxe and they both have alnico magnets going through the pick-ups and not glued at the bottom. That's why I got confused!...

American models were quite expensive...
That's why I bought this one. The sound isn't that bad.
And I like the color, too !!
