Thin Lizzy have parted company with Guitarist / Vocalist John Sykes

Thin Lizzy guitarist and main stay, Scott Gorham:‘Its been a very tough time of late for the band and myself, firstly with drummer Tommy Aldridge’s injury and now the subsequent decision for John and the rest of the group to go their separate ways. I can only apologize to everyone who has supported us over the years, but we will be back up to full speed soon’.

Scott Gorham intends to announce future plans for Thin Lizzy shortly. All Thin Lizzy shows confirmed for 2009 will be cancelled or postponed until further notice.

That is really sad to hear, and a shame for all the fans looking forward to the shows.  You guys have been doing a great job of keeping Phil's memory alive (not that his legend would ever die anyway), and I'm sure whatever you do in the future, it will be with Phil's blessing, and the fans will love it as much as ever.  Thank you on behalf of Lizzy fans everywhere, and best wishes to all of you.  Hope to stay friends on here though, whatever you do!  lol

I couldn't be more pissed off if I tried. I've been around bands pretty much my whole life, so I understand how shit goes down, but my Mates and I had planned to check Thin Lizzy Now out in Ireland Aug 1. My first trip ever out of the North American continent. Even though it wasn't the original Lizzy, it was still gonna be a highlight of my Metal lovin' life to be sure. All that is gone with the wind. How do you say "This Fucking Sux" in Irish? :(

..wow. I'm so shocked and dissapointed. It's understandable though. I saw Metallica last year and wasn't going to go this year but decided to when I heard ye were supporting. Such a shame. :(

But you know what? I don't mean this with any disrespect to Tommy or John, but Scott, I think this is a good oppurtunity to give Brian D and Garry M a call! That would be fantastic. Just like the old days!

But with that said it's so sad to see you and John go seperate ways. Ye are a perfect duo and a huge inspiration to me. I was truly in awe standing in front of John at killarney for the Live And Dabgerous 30th anniversary. He let me touch old nancy and I almost died lol

Well I'm looking forward to hearing your plans soon! Keep going Scott!!! Keep the spirit alive man!!!
