Update for the summer of 2008:

We felt like it was time to address our fans and inquiring minds on the state of Nights Like These at the moment and to set the record straight.

Officially, after 5 years in the band, our drummer Patrick Leatherwood is no longer with us. He made the decision earlier in the year and there are no hard feelings. He is still a very close friend to us but has other responsibilities and priorities that will keep him from being fully committed to the band and he would rather step down than continue.

We are closing in on a permanent replacement, who we will announce soon.

As far as the status of NLT, we will not be stopping but more of slowing down. For the past few years we have enjoyed the full time touring lifestyle but it has come to the point where we will not be able to commit that much time to the road. As the summer winds down, a few of us will be in school pursuing careers in our respected fields as well as having jobs and other priorities that will obviously keep us at home. We plan to hit certain areas when we have time off, so don't worry, we will be back to your areas eventually.

As far as this summer, we will be writing new material and we will be playing regionally. So if you live in AR, MS, AL, KY, IN, MO, LA, or TN and want us to come out and jam, let us know and we can try to work something out.

We will continue to put out records so keep coming back and checking on our blog for more updates.

We appreciate the emails and messages we continue to receive. It means a lot to us in our down time and hopefully you will continue to support us as we open a new chapter in Nights Like These.

Love to everyone.

P.S. Here are what some reviewers are saying about "Sunlight at Secondhand":

"A tidy mix of sludge and thrash, with the odd helping of crust, prog and über-fashionable post-metal tossed in for subtle variation, Sunlight at Secondhand benefits hugely from the band's more focused approach.
They've taken a deep breath, calmed the hell down and simplified—and damn if they don't sound like a confident bunch on the new disc."
- DECIBEL MAGAZINE

"Nights Like These shows no signs of light managing to permeate the gloom that surrounds them...the production is very raw and nasty...the band proves that they can stir up a truly moving noise. Sunlight at Secondhand sees them injecting a more epic sensibility into their unpleasantness with powerful results."
- OUTBURN MAGAZINE

"Nights like these have finally embraced and used their Southern Doom/Sludge Roots. 4.95/5" - SPUTNIK MUSIC

"This is an album that has an ebb and flow all its own that carries through the individual songs and the album in its entirety. Each song is carefully structured and placed to work equally well as a stand-alone piece or within the bigger context of the album. It is a complete package from the great artwork to the wonderful music contained within. Not your typical Victory band, and one  to keep your eye on. If you like your music complex and sludgy with plenty of technical expertise, this is one for you. 4/5" - BLOG CRITICS MAGAZINE

"Truly a great album of a band that has made a great evolution compared with the previous album. The only thing I don't like about this album is that I have received it too late to put it in my yearlist of 2007."
- METALRAGE

"The band have developed their sound, branching out into sludge and ambient territory while pushing the metal to slower and heavier depths, and the result is an accomplished sophomore effort in Sunlight At Secondhand. Confident, focused and crushingly heavy, Sunlight At Secondhand impresses."
- METAL REVIEW

"'Sunlight At Secondhand' is nasty, loud, smart, aggressive, bold and brash and fucking brilliant. If heavy metal is your bag, bow down to Nights Like These."
- NEW-NOISE

"
NLT Have truly outdone themselves and you can tell how aware of their changing sound they are. All talented bands evolve and this band did. Without sacrificing any of their game. Truly amazing stuff here. Like I said before; Too Raw For Victory.5/5"
- AMAZON.COM

"On this record, the band has really latched onto their Southern Doom/Sludge roots. In general the songs are slower, more bombastic and darkly touching.
True, gone is much of the relentless intensity and death metal passages of the first record (though not entirely), however, as a whole, here we are presented with a much more refined songwriting proccess, more mature thematic approaches and an excellent depth in sound and production which makes this album very refreshing and entirely rewarding.

The amazing track "Claw Your Way Out" alone is worth purchasing this record for, and is one of the best heavy songs I've heard in years.

Lyrically, the band still tackles issues regarding self-loathing, renewal, and the sense of despair, yet hope, that permeates anyone who has spent their life growing up in a place like Memphis, TN. Billy frantically chants lyrics over and over, not unlike mantras that stress the soul behind the words and accentuates the subtle Hindu/Buddhist concepts of death of the outer self and renewal within the lyrics. There is alot to take in here and the words and music marry perfectly.

That being said, I can safely say that this is the best, most original and truly satisfying heavy album of 2007. 5/5"

"Pushing their brand of metal into varied genres, Nights Like These have created an interesting and diverse listening experience. Fans of chugging riffs, creative guitar work and genre spanning vocals will find plenty to enjoy on the latest album from this Victory Records band."
-MOUTH FOR WAR

"On any given night, there are two sides to everything. Incorporating an unconventional melodic take on what could be construed as death metal, and isn't that far removed from metalcore, Nights Like These have brooded Sunlight at Secondhand. If the cover art isn't an obvious implication of a yin and yang concept, I'm not sure what else it could convey. Well, maybe it might show the influences of psychedelia, as it drips LSD visuals and blots through into their guitar work. On a night like this anything could be good or bad, left or right, up or down, wrong or right. But in the case of Sunlight At Second, it is so very right."
- EXCLAIM! CANADA

"Sunlight at Secondhand keeps its cuts as succinct as they need to be and no longer, meaning that each smattering is over just as Nights Like These's mighty grooves take hold. Secondhand or not, their future looks bright."
- POP MATTERS

"Nights Like These have created a reasonably impressive collection of songs which will undoubtably appeal to fans of any of the aforementioned acts. They aren't firmly planted in their craft just yet, but Sunlight At Secondhand does a fine job at establishing a strong foothold. While not the most inventive album of the year, the CD comes across as sincere and rife with promise."
- LAMBGOAT

"Much of Sunlight At Secondhand seems to have a layer of psychedelia that makes it hard to classify this as pure death metal or metalcore, which is a sign that these guys are growing up fast and really starting to find their identity. No matter how you slice it, these grooves are damn heavy and impressive, and should do much to bring more exposure to this talented band."
