Our adventures begins on a Friday afternoon in Dallas. We all hop in the van with it's newly repaired rear end and head to the Palladium Loft. The Loft is a wonderful venue and has a freight elevator, making our load in a much more pleasant experience than taking the stairs. We got loaded in and ready for sound check. And check it out... no van break down yet. Yet?!
After the show we enjoyed some beverages and mingled with the Warriors. Many people were there including some old faces that thought we should catch up over shots. Who are we to decline? After a long celebration the venue asked if we would mind loading out so they all could go home. Being about 2:13 AM we didn't think that was asking too much so we obliged. After we got packed up I thought it would be fun to wear the ninja costume and do a karate demonstration in the parking lot. My leg is still a little sore from the repeated Chuck Norris style round house kicks. I felt like my power was sufficiently demonstrated, so I climbed back in the van and enjoyed a cold brew while the new guy drove us home.
Saturday morning started with my usual speech about how i hate life and a promise that I'll never drink again. That promise would later be recalled. We get the bodies collected and started making our way to Waco to play the grand opening of Legends. Coach armed with his flask and the rest of us armed with our tact, we start making our way to Waco. Please remember, no van break downs yet. We roll into Waco and find the venue. We were greeted by the sound guy who's first comments were, "we don't have a lot to work with, here". That's always music to our ears. After some rewiring of the sound system and a 2 hour sound check we elected to go with the "we'll make the best of it" route. We cruised over to the local Taco Cabana after that to fill our bellies. 23 tacos, 6 enchiladas, a side of guacamole, and 87 containers of fuego sauce later, we were ready to get back to the venue and rock.
I guess someone flipped the "room sounds good" switch because when we went on, it was an entirely new sound. It sounded pretty damn good. People came out of the woodworks and filled in the floor area nicely. After the show we enjoyed some brews and hung out with the new listers. We also found a fun game to play - Boxer. This is a video game where you punch this speed bag looking thing as hard as you can and it gives you a score. We as Miser like this kind of thing so we put a 20 spot in the machine and started whaling on this thing. Coach opens up well with a 675, and followed it up with a quick 750. I decide to step up on this thing and miss the bag and go crashing into the brick wall nearly dislocating my shoulder. I received 10 points for that. Not too impressive. I finally landed a punch on this thing and scored somewhere in the 600s. After resting my shoulder i finally was able to punch an 825. Coach also got an 825, but was able to score 350 with just his head. Man... we love that game.
So, as you can see it was a fun an exciting weekend and check it out... no van break down at all. As you all know we are only playing a couple more shows this, but they will be the most ridiculous to date so you don't want to miss out. We'll just give you small hints as we go and your first hint is: Miser Christmas Show. Dun, dun, dun, dun....
We love you guys and can't wait play some new stuff for you. Damn! That was another hint.
Rock out!
