As I sit here and review some of the Dj's on the internet, I am BAFFLED. I see this new emerging group of girls that become "overnight DJ's" because they have and Ipod. Its a gimmick, take girls, let them play music and dance and you have an instant hit....WRONG.
Its taking away from the art, its taking money out of real DJ's pockets, its bad for the industry... who wants to go to a club, were the DJ train wrecks all night and cant even mix a song? What patron is going to pay a $10, $15, or $25 dollar cover to see a club dancer make a mockery of the DJ profession.
A real DJ has dedicated his or her life to becoming an entertainer, they have invested 10's of thousands of dollars into training, equipment, and music not to even mention YEARS of practice to be a good DJ.
So many people want to be that guy or girl on stage rocking the club, or the party. Making everyone scream when you drop the #1 Billboard chart topper at 1am...but it cant be done overnight.
Take some classes, enroll in DJ Academy, practice, you want to be a DJ, that's great, I encourage it... Just learn how to do it the correct way..
Club owners, Bar owners, booking agents... make sure you know what you're getting when you book a DJ.... If you're looking for a gimmick or if you're looking for real experienced talent.
And just for a little perspective, I am 12 year veteran DJ, I practice everyday. I've rocked clubs from 5-5000, and there is still always room from improvement... but, I WILL PUT MY TALENT UP AGAINST ANY OF YOU FAKE DJ'S ANYTIME, ANY DAY, ANYWHERE...you just let me know when and where to show up.
