We're about to launch our new CD, and launch into a new territory of house concerts, with www.concertsinyourhome.com. I hope it proves a good forum for our music. We're not background music and we don't want to play in bars (for talkydrinkers), and people really do like to listen closely to live music sometimes, and nobody's offering to put us on their concert stage yet, so we're looking for new rivers to paddle, so to speak. Last week Riely put on his Songwriter Spotlight. One of the duos, The Additives from Chicago, spent the night and we had a four-hour brunch the next morning/afternoon. We talked a long time about how to find your audience. Joe Ryan - totally southside Irish - and Sheila Bertoletti - young and beautiful as a doll - play sophisticated singer-songwriter originals (think a Pogue meet Yes) and they're very good and they struggle with the very things we struggle with, and you might struggle with: how to lure our fellow humans away from the mall, the computer, the television, and toward the unique, the original, the handmade, the happening here and now. I say good luck to all of us! Molly B.
