NOVA 535 hosts recession-concious art show, PrintReady!

In light of our country’s current less-than-glowing economical situation, it has become time to adopt somewhat of a “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” attitude towards producing art events. It would be stating the obvious to observe that most consumers are simply not in the position to spend extravagant amounts of money on original paintings right now. However, giving credit to our local cultural community, they have demonstrated an interested in supporting the arts in smaller ways, such as paying a cover to attend an art event, or purchasing more modestly priced items at gallery openings. It is with this understanding that the local curation team of Nessie Fernandez and Becca Nelson (that’s BESSIE ARTS to you!) propose “PrintReady,” a show that acknowledges that the art world is currently taking a beating, but refuses to bend over and accept it. “PrintReady” will showcase printwork, photography, and apparel items, ready for immediate consumption and instant home display! After all, if Ikea can stay afloat by selling mass-produced framed artwork right alongside scented candles and throw pillows, those same home design-conscious consumers can certainly afford to shell out the meager price of a signed print by a local artist!

“Print Ready” will showcase new and previously created works, all eagerly offered for sale, and at prices that nod respectively at the community’s collective shallow pocket. Featured artists include: Brandon Dunlap, Daniel Williams, SmileMaker, Mike DeLach, Chris Parks, Erik Jones, Pat Fatica, Joel Cook, Heather Dykstra, Victoria Topor, Nick Gomez, Bask, Andrew Spear and Melisa Taylor.
“PrintReady” opens Thursday, February 12th and will run through March 12th at Nova 535 Art Lounge in ....St. Petersburg.., ..FL..... The opening party runs from 6pm till 12am, with complimentary hors d’ouevres offered until 8:00. Keeping our little art party going will be DJ Mega, of St. Pete renown and infamy!
