Who Gives Kudos:

October 10, 2009 - Saturday
We just found a much better place to hold the event: Soggy Dry Lake.

We are moving because El Mirage had too many restrictions.
- No tent spikes on the dry lake bed
- No showering on the dry lake bed
- No amplified sound. No noise after 10pm
- No drifting or "doughnuts" on the dry lake bed

In addition to that, the locals who live just off the lake bed LOVE to call the rangers to complain about any ridiculous little thing.

So unless we wanted to quietly camp out in the bushes and behave ourselves, El Mirage would not work!

Why Soggy is a much better place:
- Secluded & isolated
- Showering on the lake bed is fine
- Tent spikes & any penetration of the lake bed are fine as long as they're fixed
- Amplified sound is fine and we can turn it up all we want, all night long!
- No cranky neighbors calling us in
- We can do whatever we want!

Some info on Soggy:
Soggy Dry Lake is not soggy. It's about 40 minutes from Victorville (still where the better hotels are), about 30 minutes from Apple Valley (Home Depot, Walmart), and 15 minutes from Lucerne Valley (motels, small grocery).
Soggy is surrounded by hills and there is a 3.5 mile unpaved road on the way in, which was just graded last month thanks to "Priest" - a post-apocalyptic film coming out next year.
Just remember, NO GLASS CONTAINERS. This is true on all dry lake beds. And if you bring firewood for campfires, please ensure there are no nails in it!

Was wondering how we would manage to raise hell at the old location. Glad it was moved.

It's hard to celebrate the Apocalypse with the MAN breathing down our necks.

I've shot some videos in this area, and our WWII group used to do battles there before 2001.  It'll be great!
