I don't think the creation of blog entries notify members of the group, so there's a fair chance that no one will see this, but on the off-chance that you visit and would like to know what has been going on, I thought I'd share a bit.

I've made solid progress on three different books, and am reasonably confident that two will be completed before the end of the year.

1) The Starfield Project

I have this science fiction novel outlined and ready for scene building. The premise is a familiar one with a bit of a twist: man wakes up with no knowledge of his past, name, or self, and is on a quest to learn about where he came from and why he's here. He also finds that he has no fear, is super-strong, and doesn't need oxygen to survive (which is handy, since he starts out on Mars).

2) Common Thoughts vol. 1.

Still working on a title for this, but it'll be part of a series of theological books all under the Common Thoughts heading. This volume of essays is geared towards college students and focuses on relationships more than anything.

3) Get Over Yourself: Building the Modern Help Desk

This book is inspired by my work at the university in conjunction with comparisons of other institutions. The key to building the modern help desk is intensive professional development combined with a heightened focus on user support rather than computer support.

I only have about 5-10 hours a week to write, so getting things done is a slow process, but I'm continuing to work through it and remain committed to self-publishing. Ryan Burrell may be helping me redesign my website, and I've got some exciting ideas for future projects that include weekly publications on the site and the means by which I'm going to release the books.

Stay tuned for further updates as they develop!
