The first 15 minutes of the Midwest.Beatdown this Friday night starting at 7pm on the stations below are dedicated to one of my favorite bands that has decided to disband.  Smilin Liar.  I've pushed back the 2008 Local Preview 15 minutes to honor the Minneapolis band who has had a huge effect on my life.  Four songs (technically five) will be featured from the past three discs.  Starting with the classic "Something Else" moving into the prelude "Shut Up and Drive" and slamming into "White Lie" and finishing up with the 1-2 blast from the last of their stunning eight year body of work, "Sailing the Ashes of the Music Industry" and finishing up with "You Get What You Came For."  The band will be missed, but will live on forever through the music they've left behind and for that I say THANK YOU to Jon, Justin, Ed, Ryan, Jesse, Pete, Paul, TJ and Bill for the blood, sweat, tears and energy they put into Smilin Liar!
