This is a tough one, but in no particular order...well maybe sorta

1. Slick Rick - His charisma is unparalleled and the greatest storyteller Hip-Hop has ever had
2. Big Daddy Kane - The prototype! He was the guy every dude wanted to be and the guy every girl wanted to be with. Unmatched versatility
3. Grand Puba - A fashion icon beyond his time. He truly embodies swagger
4. Jay-Z - Quite possibly the greatest contributor to current Hip-Hop. He is truly the ambassador, plus he mastered & redefined the conversational flow.
5. Black Thought - Rhythmically the best. Very few can control their flow as well as he does, and he does one hell of an impersonation of my favorites.
5. Nas - when he is on, he is brilliant
6. Common - Some may argue that 5 holds the title, but I'd argue that Comm is the greatest pure poet in Hip-Hop. His transition from thought to thought is out of this world!!
7. 2Pac - no one showed as much vulnerability and touched our hearts in the way he could. He gets the award for most conviction & passion.
8. B.I.G - In 1 word; charming. In 2 words; captivating. He also laid the blueprint for commercial success
9. Ghostface - A great storyteller and the king of incoherent thoughts. Easily one of the most entertaining to just listen to.
10. Ludacris - before you get your panties in a bunch, dude is deceptively ILL. He can literally out-rhyme the best, but you would never know based on how popular he is, and how big his songs are. In 1 word; underrated!!!

It should also be noted that this list is based on "MY" current taste and is relative to time. I obviously have favorites like Eminem, Pun, Redman, KRS, & Andre that I didn't include. These are my favorites as of today. The true school crowd are so influential, they'll always be a staple but others the could change in a few months. Anyway...DEBATE!!!!!

Obviously we have similar taste in emcees as most of those you mentions are in my all time favorite list
but my list goes as follows (in no particular order)
Jay-Z- definition of a Emcee with swagger and trend setting flows arguably if not the greatest he is running neck and neck.
(w/ BIG)

B.I.G- When you say charismatic and the definitively the most versatile Emcee ever. He had the uncanny ability to craft his flow that you felt like you were a movie.. talk about cinematic depliction.

Nas- aficionado with the words he makes rhyming seemless like breathing. Nas can get in that vein and be doper than needles in junkies arms. lyrical craftsman.

Black Thought- By far the most underated Emcee in the game. Phenomenal with wordplay and delivery. I popped many a tape and scratched plenty of cd's studying his flow.

RassKass- so slepted on. he is a metaphoric monster. his words twist you thoughts and his delivery is obsurd.

Kool G Rap- If you were up on G rap in the Golden Era you saw that he is very versatile. He is the GodFather of GunTalk. "Im putting red dots on niggas fore heads and making muthafuckas indian". He has the ability to trap you in the storyline. No frontin' He made me wanna run up in them spots and lay dudes down.

Tupac- First Emcee to bring tears to my eyes. He opitimized the struggle and redefined shit talkin in Hip- Hop . He was the Emcee you loved to Hate. (Niggas was upset he came side ways @ B.I.G.)But he was so passionate about everything he did.. Also he was hilarious as hell..
Common- At one point in my life all i listened to was Common. Until recently he was so slept on. He is a Rennasiance Emcee, To me the personification of what hip hop should, can and is. He had me redefining myself as an individual * Real Talk* Besides that he is lyrically ill.

Joe Budden- I fucks with Joey. He is witty with his flow and can easily get up in an Emcees ass. He doesnt force his flow it just seems like it comes so easy. Dude has passion about his craft. He will speak on whatever is on his mind whether it be political, another rapper, or whatever. His convictions seem to be his gift & curse.

Ludacris- He is absurdly gifted lyrically. its like he's Muhammad Ali with his flow. He can bob and weave words like he is sparring. lures you in and the hit you with a barage to knock you on your ass... They need tyo stop playing and give Luda his due.

Honarable Mentions.... Joell Ortiz - He's gonna be a problem oh my bad he is a problem
KRS-One- I dare somebody pick up a mic and disresepct him, Stage show is ill.

Busta Rhymez- consitently potent with his flow.. should be recognized with the greatest Emcees.

3 Stacks- genius-like Prince is with R&B.
Only Its Hip -Hop

too many more to mention( subject to change depending on catergory)

G Rap is NUTS!!! Definitely, the godfather of East Coast gansta rap. I'm actually on a song with dude....Wait til you hear it.

Buddens is SICK!! He's not slept on, but I don't know if he has what it takes to cross over. An incredible talent nonetheless

Joell Ortiz: see Joe Buddens
