so, at my wonderful job, i deal with a lot of APO {military} accounts. the other night, i got  a call from a young lady with an address on an iraqi air base. she was very friendly and wanted some catalogs to alleviate a little boredom in the desert. when we got to the address verification screen, i noticed it was not in fact a US military address, but an airbase run by KBR services. {a former subsidary of halliburton} after i finished with her order, she passed the phone along to someone else who also wanted catalogs. this gentleman was markedly less polite. {i believe "pushy" and "obnoxious" would be the operative words} he immediately began riding me about the lack of a military discount. now, for the record, i have left messages and emailed a few people at eastbay in an attempt to get military discounts, but have not yet heard back. the problem is, this son of a bitch is NOT a soldier, but a private contractor hired by our corrupt government in a no-bid contract, and probably makes 3 or 4 times more than the men and women risking their lives to to protect my right to speak out against this joke of an administration. and he had the fucking gall to tell me to "keep him in my prayers" and "support our troops". i had quite a hard time supressing my rage...

my question is this: am i a sellout for not saying anything to some ass clown posing as a soldier, and acting like i owe him something when he makes more in a week than i do in a month?

every time i have a military address in front of me, the last thing i say is "thank you for your service"--and this fucking pretender had to go and ruin it. now whenever i see an APO, a voice in the back of my mind says "does he work for halliburton?" perhaps it's KBR, or maybe even the kings of mercenary corruption, blackwater USA...

thanks a lot, asshole, i now enjoy my job just a little bit less...

if it makes you feel better i attended an anti-war march in upstate NY that was held by and primarily for ACTIVE DUTY iraqi vets. the very first of its kind, it was a fucking awsome day. and now that these TRULEY brave men and women who agree with military in general stood up and spoke out against how unworthy and bad they belive this war to be i'm sure many more will follow. Hurray!
