Perhaps appropriately, its taken nearly nine months for Magnetic Flowers' new baby to gestate. While it wasn't necessarily easy (morning sickness, strange cravings, mood swings) the little guy is finally ready to see the light of day. "What We Talk About When We Talk About What We Talk About" will be publicly birthed on Saturday, July 25th and Art Bar will never be the same.
We really want this show to be a big party so we've invited friends to come play. The Magic Ghost from Charleston will open the show. We handpicked these guys to be there because they are repeatedly blowing our minds. For a mere two people to get on a stage and make what they make is some sort of proof of God. They play a brand of folk music that incorporates thoughtful lyrics and harmonies that, I swear to god, will make your skin come alive. Must see!
In other exciting news, Columbia's beloved Cassangles will also return from hiatus to melt all of the awe-stricken faces in the crowd. These guys manage to be completely unique without rendering themselves inaccessible. No small feat. The sheer energy and gusto these guys display is enviable.
Then we'll take the stage. I'll let the Free Times say what they will about us rather than sit at my computer awkwardly praising my own band. Suffice it to say, we want a party. We want a HUGE celebration (if you can make a CO2 powered confetti gun please let me know). We'd really love to see, play for, and hang out with all of you. We need our baby to come up in a beautiful, alcohol soaked love-pile of a scene.
See you there!
