Dregular Guys
The Dregs can't really decide what they want to be...Are they country ? Are they punk ? Are they just a straight ahead rock n roll band ? Well, it doesn't really matter because they sound pretty damn good to me, just the way they are !
The Dregs formed around two years ago, but have already gained an impressive reputation on the local scene, due to their good-time blend of hard-rockin' tunes, which mix in country melodies with a healthy dose of punk rock attitude, as well as their rambunctious live shows.
Not only have the band enjoyed some high profile support slots in Belfast, supporting the likes of Jim Noir, King Creosote and Robyn G Shiels, but they've also impressed audiences in England as well, playing gigs at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool and Manchester's prestigious Roadhouse Club.
It's no surprise that the Dregs are attracting a lot of attention, because their songs are so well-crafted. 'Keep My Bed Warm' is easily one of their most catchy tunes, which has a retro vibe, sounding like a long-lost obscure '70s rock hit, but when they let loose, such as on the rollicking country tune 'Afghanistan' and 'One Night Wonder', they really sound impressive. The vocals are terrific (they have three vocalists, whose styles are totally different, ranging from sweetly harmonic to whisky-soaked raw-edged and bluesy) and their use of harmonica is inspired....
But you don't have to take our word for it - you can check out the Dregs when they play live at a venue near you soon.....
