Lach " The Calm Before"
Available at www.antifolk.net

It's been more than awhile since we've had a new Lach CD to listen to. Luckily, Lach has been consistently busting out new songs in his live shows at The Sidewalk Café in NYC's East Village. For Sidewalk regulars, many of the tracks on "The Calm before" will be familiar and fit nicely into their collection of Antifolk favorites. For the newcomer, this work provides a great overview of what Lach is about. On Track 1, "Egg," Lach's oval-shaped world cracks open and a new, more troubling world emerges. Kinda like Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain" with less drugs (I think?). This updated creation story adds a few highlights to the live version, especially the Bobby Keysish sax solo. "I want to be with you" catalogs the soundtrack and adventures of spending time with a life partner. In "This ain't a song," Lach props an Irish sing along feel. This song was written by Lach because it is Lach's life, but if it ends up in a movie soundtrack over someone else's life that's ok too! On "I won't miss you," Lach channels Dylan's "Idiot wind" era with full-on, cutting anger and insight. "George at Coney" paints a picture of Coney Island as seen through the eyes of a hookey-playing Beatle's era George Harrison. On "A Quiet Distance," Lach flashes back a few decades and explains that he prefers finger painting to finger pointing. Then there's "Men don't come back" (hey Lach – I might want her number!?). "Oh well" got me thinking maybe I should vote this year? I'll think about it again after another beer. Lach ends the CD with by inviting us into his "Crazy House" – hey, living in the party isn't all that bad – Antifolk lives on!

Very Cool. Thanks. Joe Strummer claimed to wear the same shirt for a whole tour.
Any plans to record again?
