Current mood:  hopeful
Hello loveys,
Its been a minute since last I blogged and I apologize for my absence.  There is a lot going on right now, some good some bad.  My grandmother would say that I am going through "character building" period.  I know that God never gives you more than you can handle but if this is "character building", I am going to be "character" heavy !!!  I look forward to when I can share everything with you but now is not the time.

Anyway, I have two projects coming up that are very near and dear to my heart and I wanted to share with you.   I am signed on to perform at a very special event happening in Nashville on August 1 called "Rock the Walk- benefiting Autism Speaks".  This will an acoustic performance and there will be many great performances that night from The Rust (www.myspace.com/therustrocks), Rick Siebold (www.myspace.com/rickseibold), Bethanny Ann, and Britten (www.myspace.com/brittenmusic).  All of the money raised from ticket sales goes to Autism Speaks.  Click Rock the Walk Concert to purchase tickets or for more information.
The second project is something that is still in the early stages but I'm super excited about it.  Ever since I was a teenager I have loved working with children.  I used to mentor elementary kids and work in my church's nursery while I was in high school and always said that if for some reason music didn't work out, I would become a teacher.  Well, my good friend Tatia Rose-Cook gave me a great idea and the opportunity through her music school, Rose Music Group.  I will be teaching a song writing workshop for kids later this summer.  I wrote my first song at the age of 6 and haven't stopped since and with the success of Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers, its evident that kids have A LOT to say and I'd like to help them get started.  I'm super excited about this and I will definitely give more information once everything is finalized.

I love you all and hope that you are having a fantastic summer.

God Bless!!!

Rissi :-)

Hi Rissi,

I want to thank you in advance for your help in bringing about Autism Awareness.  Education and early intervention is the key.  If we had just known what we were looking at I believe my son would have had the early intense intervention and possibly recover from Autism.  Well, a big round of applause and thumbs up to you for sending "You Surround The Mystery" to Rose.  I just want to do my part and hope people are touched by the lyrics.  Seems that they have been so far.  All the best with your workshop and you better believe kids have a lot to say.  Even my son has a lot to say and I know all the participants in your workshop will be blessed by your love, heart and experience.  You can tell when a person loves with they are doing and your love for music is obvious and your awesome talent has brought you far.  So by all means spread that love and talent girl.  Bless the little future songwriters.  Take care and have fun at the benefit!

Take your time beautiful. Both sound like great causes, but protect those vocal chords. You still have a lot of music to sing to we diehard fans of yours.

luv, les
