Current mood:  determined

Ladies and Gentleman, here's what's going on in Odd Project.

We just recently parted ways with the last original member of OP; Christian Escobar. He plans to go back to school and gear his attention towards a new career. There were no hard feelings following his decision. We wish him the best of luck.

As for the future of Odd Project .... We plan to search our little tooshies off until we find the right members to replace Scott and Christian.

We understand a lot of people will disagree with our decision to continue on under the name Odd Project, but that is our choice. That decision of course isn't one hundred percent / final forever, but this is how it will be for now. Please be respectful and understand that no amount of hate mail is going to steer us towards any other decision at the moment.

Since there are no original members left in OP we will no longer be playing any songs that were released before "lovers fighters sinners saints". We feel it wouldn't be in good form to perform songs we never had anything to do with.

Soooo, because of the drastic line-up changes we will be writing/recording a new demo during the next 2 months (september and october). Everyone (sans myself "Jag") that was on "lovers fighters sinners saints" has moved on, so we feel it's time for the new Odd Project to write the music we plan to rock your faces off with :)

For any of you readers that might be interested in auditioning for either Lead Guitar or Drums .. please contact us ASAP.

For the rest of you if you have any further questions please feel free to ask away.

Thank you so much for your endless love and support. It's so grately appreciated :)

Much love - Jag & Odd Project

Mark

So I guess that means that you guys suck "Underoath" style now.

That's too bad because og odd project was amazing stuff.

ehhh
jag you know how i feel
i know you arent an original member, but you have been the glue for this fucking band.
you've been around long enough.
im not psyched you are keeping the name, cause, sorry to say, you arent OP anymore. but whatever, thats your decision. im still gonna support you guys.

and, just gonna point out, no offense to you jag, all you did was sing on lovers, fighters, sinners saints =]
the cd was basically done when matt left, you just put that finishing touch on it. a good one none the less.

the rest of you guys, well..you arent OP.
you may be able to play like scott, but you arent scott.

whatever, make sure to post the new shit you come out with, cause im sticking with you guys til the end.

To be fair; the album "lovers fighters sinners saints" was already written before you joined. I was there when you tried out and I know that you added a lot of things and your own touches- but I guess the issue I'm having is not just about 'the name' its everything that Odd Project did before it became an entirely different band.

It just seems like you guys are keeping the name in order to not have to start from ground zero. It may not be the case, but that's what I have heard and what I feel as well. I understand no one persons' opinion is going to change your mind, but you didn't help create the path that you are walking on...and I just think that sucks.

I'm sorry, I dont know any of you except Jag- but I think it's pretty uncool to do that. But the best of luck in all you do.

We understand your opinion, but what you need to understand is that it was Matt, Scott, Christian, Eric, and Greg's decisions to leave Odd Project ... it is not our goal to ride on anyone's coat-tails .. it is our goal to write the music we love that just so happens to be under the name Odd Project.

Yeah, I'm aware it was their choice to leave the band. My whole point is that I watched them go from being a terrible punk band (sorry dudes....) to what they were when Eric joined the band, to selling out Chain Reaction, playing Hellfest, and touring the US. I think it is the right decision to play nothing before the newest album, but when I think Odd project, I think of the dude's I toured with and went to HS with. Bottom line- you dudes are amazingly talented musicians I just fail to see why you would operate under another band name when it's not even the same band. It's like going to see an original Comeback kid show but seeing the brand new singer- it just doesn't quite feel right. But it's not just one person, it's the whole band-it would be different if it was just Matt that left but it wasn't.

Every one keeps saying 'it's just a name' well, I can only turn that around and be like 'yeah, it's just a name..so why not change it?'

That's my piece.

Thanks for the pizza Jag <3

some people have so much hate, its unreal. who cares what the bands name is? you guys will still play just as amazing music as you did before. (ok ok, so the drumming will never compare to christians, but still.. haha) i saw odd project with the original members, and i saw it with [mostly] new members... still a damn good band IMO. a name is a name. the music is what counts.

Its ashame about the massive massive lineup change that has occured over the past however long.

But still. Odd project is Odd project. People wrote and started it, then other joined. the people from the beginning left and the people that joined want to keep it going.

November 2005 was when i got the second hand stopped (if my memory serves me correctly)

And ive been a fan ever since. I dont understand people that "hate" new members because theyre not like the old ones. Isnt that what makes things exciting?

I look forward to the new stuff, and like others have said, continue to show support. Just as much as i always have.

Good luck lads.

well here is my take on it. while matt and the rest of the guys were definately odd project because they were there from the beginning, they also adopted new members into the odd project family, so essentially while all the originals may be gone the fact that they adopted the new dudes still makes them odd project. good luck guys, cant wait to hear some new stuff.

wow and i thought dumb girls were major drama queens. seriously fuck you guys that wanna start negative shit with a determined band that is trying to persue their dreams. Who the fuck are you to sit there and bitch. Listen to yourselves, its people like you that make negativity in the world we live.
the band is having issues, they JUST came out with an amazing CD that has taken an incredible amount of time to create. So you expect em to just disregard all the amazing music that have offered us that we love because you have a stick up your but that gets you on myspace to talk shit?
The bottom line is we all love the music. You wouldnt give a shit if u didnt enjoy turning up the speakers and rockin out to the musical art theyve created for us. appreciate it and give thanks to those who will continue to progress with the lengendary work at hand. Thats all they can do and your fuckin lucky their still choosing to stay here for you guys after all the shit u give em. Theyre doing their best to please us fans. So you like the matt lamb shit better, then go ahead and listen to that instead. matt scott or christian have absolutely no intention in coming back so if its not them then its the end of OP. ive been scotts gf through all of this and i know that they strongly hope these new members carry on what theyve started and produced in the last album. and if ur a genuine fan of the music, then your rooting for that as well.
you have no idea the potential of these talented group of guys. and you shoot em down and criticize their ambitions before u even see what they can potentially add to odd project's musical spectrum. FUck yourselves and find somewhere else to incorperate your dumbfounded immaturity.
Love you jaggy, jon, mikey and babytroy
persistence with prevail.

I think you guys will do famously, if they don't like it they do not have to listen to it anymore. There are so many people in this world that haven't had the chance to hear you yet, therefore there are more potential fans out there to be had. Good luck! I am proud of you Jag.

Wooooooooo for 2 cents. Now we woooo for the 2 cents that should have been left in these bitches coat pockets. haha

I wont speak my whole feelings, Michael already knows them, I spoke of them before Christian was gone. Odd Project is just another one of those bands where you have to follow it up with the words "their old stuff" or "their new stuff." Like as someone said before Underoath. That doesn't make the new stuff any worse then the old stuff, it's just completely and 100% a different kind of music, it's poort sportsmanship to compare the two. I loved the old Odd Project as much as everyone else. I was also inlove with their older more punky feel. I followed it through the new sound, followed with their unreleased stuff I loved all of it. I didn't have any relationship with anyone in the band, I just know how to find illegal shit on-line. Anyways, I begged begged begged Matt to play some of their unreleased stuff. Mainly Empty Moans, that's the live all be all of OP, even though it was never released. Back to my point, even then, that shows bands change. They go their own paths, and us and fans shouldn't take part in choosing their path. If we as fans had any say in the way odd Project turned out, everyone would turn right around and say, "that's bullshit, stop doing what the public wants and do what you want you posers." Michael... Jag, whatever? I don't like calling you Jag. And the rest of the new band known as Odd Project, no matter what choice you guys make, people are going to hate because the original Odd Project isn't around anymore. And as you said Foo Master Jag, it was their choice to leave the band. And everyone should probably look into why the band was breaking up, it might get you lil bitches thinking. But anyways, they left the band and that was their choices, so if your going to hate, hate on the old band members. But if you do that your still an idiot, no one is going to hate on you for quiting your job, so why should you do that to any of them. This new OP explained no amount of hatemail would change their mind. They have obviously thought it all out. You all wasted your times, I'm sorry, you can't gain it back. Again, bottom line, you guys have a lot of living up to do when you start up again. But hey, look at Underoath, they did it, you may not enjoy Underoath anymore, I don't, but they did go from being amazing, to sucking, to redeming themselves a pretty good amount. I can safetly say I'd rather Underoath be where they are then stayed at Chasing Safety. So good luck, I'll check up on you guys again soon.

P.S. Everyone else. I think you all just proved that while growing up we are told way to much that we can accomplish anything if we just put our minds to it, or that our one voice matters. If you believe any of that then your just an idiot. So again, your hate falls on deaf ears... grow up.

Bottom Line: These guys that make this upcoming music are going to put their heart and sole into it. Jag, Mike, and Jon are three of the most musically talented people I've ever come across. As far as filling in the open instruments, they will settle for nothing less then extremely talented musicians who have the same vision for the band. Make this be known, they are not trying to please anyone but themselves by making the best music they are humanly possible of making. Figure it out; If you like it, then love it. If you dislike it, then don't listen and move on with your negativity. Whether a bands name is Odd Project or Lick My Big Hairy Cunt, you should ultimately enjoy the band for their music. You decide, stay with the band or get the fuck out. Knowing this, base your decision on Lovers, Fighters, Sinners, Saints and New Material coming soon.

Lastly: Jag, Mike, and Jon never anticipated to be in this position. They were thrown into this situation by ex-members leading them into it. Matt, Greg, Eric, Scott and finally Christian solely decided to leave the band under their own terms. They were never kicked out of the band and to my understanding never once voiced an opinion about retiring the band or band name (but remember I'm only one dude). When each member decided to leave, the remaining had solid determination to continue the band adding new members to represent Odd Project. Then another "original" member would leave. Leaving a "New" member to represent Odd Project...etc. These "new" members gave up a lot to be part of and represent Odd Project.

I know Scott, Greg, and Christian personally, and consider two of the three good friends. Maybe they should have thought this through more thoroughly, when they all decided to quit the band. For good or for bad, this is Odd Project. You decide, but decide on the music.

My general reply to all of these statements is that I'm not hating on them. It was from a strictly objective opinion.

I've known the original members since 2001-2002 school year. They were still punk then and matt was still singing vs screaming and Mike Gordon was still in the band. The guys know I love them, and I always will and while the new members are great and can play the instruments, let's see what they can do when they release their new CD when everything is their music. It's unfair to ask everyone to choose which Odd Project they like best right now, because these guys haven't released anything 100% their own yet.

Not everyone is only responding to you ... there are other negative posts to this blog ... which is fine. Everyone is 100% entitled to their own opinions, and I don't mind people speaking what feels true to them.

There is a huge difference between "talking shit" and speaking your mind though ... as everyone knows, but not everyone understands. I do not believe that you "Daisy St. Patience" are talking shit. I may not appreciate some of the personal things you have said and totally disagree with the way you go about sharing your feelings, but once again .. you do have that right.

It would just be nice if you stuck to the same story. One second you're saying you're against us carrying on as OP, then you're saying it's unfair to judge which OP is better. We aren't here for a contest. We aren't doing this to say, "hey everybody, which OP do you like better? Old or new?" That's bound to happen anyway, but that idea isn't forced onto anyone.

The majority of this world has no idea to the existence of Odd Project, so to easily over 80% of the world's population the names "Matt Lamb, Scott Szchomler, Eric Cline, Greg Pawloski, and Christian Escobar" don't ring any bells. Yes, those are the guys that started Odd Project, but you need to realize that THEY left OP. They left OP for another generation of musicians to carry on.

final thoughts:

sorry mike and jon, that i really just dont know you at all. *jag talks to me, you should too =]* basically you have been around for the fill in process, so you havent had a chance to show your true talent. im quite excited to see what you guys put out.

jag, you've been talking to me on myspace since you fucking joined the band. you seem to be on here every day checking up on shit, getting back to as many people as you can, which is great. i cant think of too many bands that will actually respond to fans, especially a random kid from CT. you are the fucking reason this band is still together. i cant quite remember if you were on the tour where the van was broken into, and the suburban died, but you've had your share of rough shit to deal with on tour, but you stick with the band.

matt leaves, you come in as the new singer. thats enough pressure for you to deal with as it is. a great band losing an amazing singer, and a new guy comes in, but you took matts writing, and put your own touch to it, and look how that turned out. sure some people didnt like it, but you did so who gives a fuck.

and as members left, one by one, you stuck with it. didnt matter what happened, you never said, fuck it i quit. you are here for making the music.

as for the "old odd project", they were amazing, the stuff was unbelievable.
as for the "new odd project" its gonna be interesting to see what you guys come up with.

but like jag stick with the band, i am too. im not gonna judge you on whos in the band, im gonna judge you on the music

(even though id still love to have the old guys come back for some new shit)

even though the music and band members changed, i'll never regret my odd project tattoos.
frankly, because they mean something to me.
p.s. someone stole my tattoo and redid the lyrics so instead of saying "i'd sleep forever if you never left my dreams" it said "i'd sleep forever if you only left my dreams" and she had guns like mine too haha silly girl!!!

anyways..good luck, guys. if your hearts are poured into the music, people will enjoy it. im one of those people who hated jag's voice (he knows) but then i started liking it. odd project wont be the same but things change for a reason. i still agree with jen on some things though..

REDCRAVING [NEW RECORD IN STORES NOW!!!]

im gonna be really objective, because i havent been on your profile for quite some time now and this issue is total news to me. i got the first OP record when i went to the us in the summer of 04. i live in germany and i and many people here really loved "your" music. in fact my girlfriend listened to the second hand stopped yesterday and i was wondering what you guys have been doing over the last years. i have to admit that i am a little dissapointed that OP didnt get the attention they deserved and that Odd Project is pretty much dead. so im sorry to tell that i cant support your decision to keep the name! it has NOTHING to do with Odd Project anymore, in my opinion you shouldn't even play songs from the second album either...
i know it's hard to let go, but you should let Odd Project rest in piece. if you guys are as talented as you tell us there should be no problem spreading the word about THIS NEW BAND!

i wish you all the best

What's up Della?

I haven't read all the comments posted in this blog, but I just thought I'd share my 2 cents.

Has anybody heard of a lovely band called Dear Whoever, from Oregon?
Dear Whoever has been going strong for a few years, but did you know that none of the original members are in the band? The guy that started the band, Jacob, came up with the whole title of Dear Whoever (correct me if I'm wrong) probably over 6 years ago and wrote songs like Tears of Ashes and A Place for the End, etc etc.
He is now in a band called Upon Beauty Rests.
My point is, even after all of the original members of Dear Whoever left, they still kept the name, everybody still loves them, and they are doing amazing things with the band.

I hope I made sense.

It's really not necessary to hate on a band so hard for this.
The only thing right now that I dislike about Odd Project is how they haven't been up to Seattle, WA since April (:

Good luck boys!
