Current mood: hungry
I was just reading this short assignment from my 3D Design class (Intro of No More Second Hand Art by Peter London) and there were a few things that really stuck out for me and I thought I would share...
The author quoted Buckminster Fuller from his book "No More Secondhand God" "Why not meet God directly? Why take someone else's story about hearing someone else's story as your own religious experience? If you are inclined to meet God, why not go out and look the fellow up? Why take someone else's word for what do is like? Why not be the first Christian, the first Jew?" I'm not relgious or anything, I just thought that was interesting.
The author also said something to the effect of: We need to stop tricking ourselves into beliving that just because we saw a spread of photos in National Geographic we know anything about people of, say, Kurdistan. In truth, we don't know anything about the people of Kurdistan. What we do know are some three by five inch pictures in a nine by eleven inch magazine lying on our living room table. And that is not Kurdistan.
ok, that's it.
