Artrocker Online Single of The Week -
"...Shades of Blood Red Shoes permeate this song about cat theft… yep, cat theft. It’s not the most obvious topic, but the stabbing riff and grumbling bass line more than offset the quirky lyrics. You’ll also be surprised at how many times you find yourself muttering the refrain "You’ve stolen my… C-C-C-CAT!" RC..."

"...this trio of feisty felines have been responsible for decorating our listening space with some seriously tasty acrylic based agit pop in recent times with this tenaciously quarrelsome twin set perhaps providing their best release to date. ‘c-c-c-cat’ is a skittish cutie, part unhinged, wiring and caustic and threaded with a deliciously spiked frantic and frenetic delivery that at times could easily pass for one of those old school kick about spy theme collages that used to book-end 60’s cartoon superhero shows such as Batman / Spiderman et al, of course its all drilled with an angular hybrid of riot grrlll dialects that we here certainly reckon sounds not unlike Sleater-Kinney walloping several shades out of Huggy Bear while Babes in Toyland idly shuffle around applying the odd swift kick of their own. ’blackjack eddie’ over on the flip is our favoured cut, replete with stop start dynamics, see sawing needling riffs and possessing a crooked bent at the edges brittleness that was much present on ’Dress’ era PJ Harvey though here found clearly embellished by elements of the Slits, Au Pairs and Delta 5 - essential in other words..."

"...this is more raucous guitar action from Norwich. All girl three-piece Violet Violet offer a taste of their forthcoming second album, ‘The City Is Full Of Beasts’, and it’s jammed with juddering angular guitars and shouting, happily attached to a cast iron alt-rock pop song..."

"...'c-c-c-cat' is the band's fourth single and the tastiest morsel to date from norwich's feistiest femme threesome. violet violet landed the number 21 spot in artrocker's singles of the year with their 'bring! bring! ep'. ("echoes of bands like huggy bear, gertrude and bikini kill - shouty vocals, angry 'bitchy' lyrics and big punk riffs, almost enough to recall the great babes in toyland" - artrocker) the girls hold nothing back on this new track - this is 'gossip pop' at its best - purring fans will cry for more, which is just as well as their second album 'the city is full of beasts' is out this august..."

"...Shouty female fronted indie rock which is noisy and has more spunk than the contents of Marc Almonds stomach at 6am after a particularly busy evening. It's kind of like on angry Florence Of The Machine or something if you're after some sort of contemporary reference. Whatever it is it has ample balls and we like things with balls... "
