When a real need is met, whether the perception of the answer to that need is considered a "miracle" or not, it is the heart of the observer that makes the decision. A miracle can be in front of your face and yet you can fail to see that miracle because you are not looking for it. New understanding with a softened heart is sometimes based on radical new evidence that has never been considered or realized. The attempt to intellectualize everything fails mankind and always will. The mind of the world does not understand spiritual things. You cannot rationalize everything you come to see, know or experience. This does not stop mankind from trying however. "…the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men."(1 Corinthians 1:25) "…the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." (1 Corinthians 2:14-15) God can soften even the heart of a devout atheist. The mind is rarely moved by itself, but the heart can be touched and softened by degrees resulting in the changing of the mind, even considering the most unlikely of circumstances.
