Ok, it has been a while. I profoundly apologise for that, but please forgive me as I have been rather busy nurturing an international romance. While many of you may know about it, you may not be aware of the latest developments.
For those of you who may not be aware of how this all started, backtrack to 2006 (September 19th), where I was cutting my teeth on the blogging phenomenom right here on MySpace and I was quite a visible presence. It was my birthday when the lovely Rachael first stumbled upon my blog to wish me all of the best for the day. It was love at first glimpse of digital image! Emailing converted to IM converted to daily phone calls, and a reciprocal love began to blossom, despite many obstacles. Classic tale of boy meets girl...living at opposite ends of the freakin' planet.
It wasn't until April of this year that we finally met, after I touched down at San Francisco Airport. Up to that point we had managed to keep our relationship alive with a strong commitment to the faith that we would be together one day. We both endured some very lonely times, and at times grew a little less hopeful as we endured setbacks in our personal lives and financial situations that kept putting back the date that we could meet. However, over that period of time (two and a half years) we were able to develop a friendship first romance, something that I had never done in my life previous to that. It was a new kind of intimacy, a relationship without the benefits or shortfalls of proximity, a relationship that had to exist beyond the peripheries of the physical.
Meeting was a truly spiritual experience, and that is all that I am going to say about that, but needless to say, one thing led to another and we are going to be - parents! :)
That's bigciting!
Unfortunately, I was in the USA from April till July, but oweing to visa limits have had to return to Australia until we could get an appropriate visa that would allow me to live and work in the US. It's awful to come back at a time when we were just getting used to the ideas that we were going to be new parents (it was a slight shock at first), and Rachael feels a little abandoned at having to fend for herself while the paperwork and necessary interviews are had. I could keep returning for three months at a time, but that isn't stable and I wouldn't be allowed to work or earn an income at all. So we have to wait (and tough) it out.
Anyways, congratulations to us! It's been a long time coming, this update, but we promise to keep you in the loop in regards to all of the global jetsetting for love. Oh, and for those who are involved with Facebook. Please get in touch with me there!
