Let's open with prayer. Father let your words be alive in us, for we are alive in you, Amen. Now, this devotional is for everyone! If you're a new christian, I hope this gives you some direction and incouragement to keep chasing God, if you'e an older christian, I hope it pushes you towards a renewed love for your father, and a deeper more fullfilling relationship wiith him!
Psalms 24 (That's right the whole thing!)
'1.The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
2.For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 3.Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4.He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5.He shall receive the blesssing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6.This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. 7.Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8.Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. 9.Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10.Who is this King of glory? The lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.'
Message Breakdown.
(verses 1-2)
What this tells us as christians, is that the God we serve is the ruler of all. For he made everything and has charge over everything. Isn't it amazing to think that our 'Daddy' is the boss of it all.
(verses 3-6)
This tells us what is required of us to be with thiis great King. Now new christians should not get discouraged thinking "But I'm not any of these things." Our god is a god of the present and the future. When you accepted christ you became a new creature. the past doesn't exist with God. So you need not be ashamed Go ahead and pursue him even more.
(verses 7-10)
Who is our god? The King of glory baby!! That's right, he is great, and mighty, and there is not a power that exists that can overcome him. Therefore we as heirs to the throne of grace, should tread our world without fear, or worry. "Lift up your heads, O ye gates... and the King of glory shall come in!"
Thanx everyone for your support, of our little band from Kentucky. Pray for us as we travel, and keep us informed of those prayer requests through the forum on our webpage. (seventhtimedown.net) We will try to respond to everything, but even if for some reason we can't, there are plenty of God chasers on there that would love to pray with you. God bless!! Cliff
