Hi there, it's Jewel,

Just wanted to touch base and say howdy. What an exciting show last night!

I thought everyone brought their A-game and it was definitely stiff competition! Being a rodeo and bull riding fan it's hard for me to get used to someone who is injured still getting a score.

I think the rule about "judging a rehearsal if the person is too injured to perform" was weird both times they have used it.

As bad as I felt for Melissa, who I hope feels better and comes back, I'm used to our cowboy athletes that live by the rule: "ride hurt or don't get a score." It may seem harsh, but it seems like the only way to keep things honest.

If you're too hurt to compete then you can't compete.

But if I were to be on the show I might change my mind. Hahah!

I know there are all kinds of ways to doing things and it sure is out of my control – that's for sure – so I'm happy to follow along as it is, but I have to say I think the PBR has kept a lot of integrity in sports by using this rule.

Other sports, like boxing for example, pay the guys who loose so there isn't anything on the line to make them try their hardest. And football awards contracts to guys who get played weather they decide to "bring it" any given Sunday or not.

I like that the bull riders and cowboys have to win to get paid.

They get paid based on their performance and not on their reputation. That, to me, seems like the way it should be in the real world. All of us get fired if we don't do any good at our jobs.

OK, I know, I'm probably too opinionated, but there it is...

Hats off to you Jewel, my husband and I felt the same way while we were watching. Think that new rule they have for this season stinks. Oh ya, and for the record, I just loved that "to die for stare" you gave Len the other night when he said Ty might "hit the trail". We country girls really do stand by our man lol. Good Luck Next week Ty!..

I wish all sports were based with the same guidelines as our rodeo athletes and bull riders!!! Being the wife of a bull rider and a barrel racer myself I agreee if you don't step up and do your thing and win then you don't deserve it!! If you want it bad enough then you can get through it if not then go home! Way to go Jewel for speaking up!! And Ty we have enjoyed watching and supporting you, wish you could have done it too Jewel, there will always be next time...

I felt the same way, both times!! It just shows how they bend the rules sometimes for different sports. They should have a guideline for DWTS so we would all know before it happens. lol...But I am so happy Ty made it through last night!! I was jumping up and down when they called his & chelsie name, I wanted to jump through the screen when Len said what he said about Ty, i know you were upset, I could tell by your face! But now len has to eat his words!!! ..

I can't agree more!! Melissa didn't perform so she shouldn't get a score. PBR knows how to keep the playing field even. Who knows if she can even compete next week. I think Melissa is great but life deals everyone pits with their cherries, it is just how you handle the pit that makes the difference...

I lived in the dance world for years, albeit ballet and modern, and I've seen all kinds of injuries danced on because that is just what we do. I was disappointed that the celebrities are able to be judged regardless of wether they dance or not as well. It kind of makes dancers seem a little wimpy. But I guess they're just not professional caliber; you have to be a real athlete in order to dance. That's one of the reasons I like watching Ty so much, he has serious heart. I love how he gets out there and really steps out of the stereotype for a country boy, heehee. My Daddy grew up on a ranch in East Texas and we never miss the show. We watch together, and we were literally jumping up and down and screaming when Ty made it last night. He is such a great example of how well-rounded one can be. He is doing SUCH an awesome job, I have loves watching him really come out of his shell :)..

Yes and yes! PBR should be paid more $ than football/nba players and such. Bull riders earn it all plus. Can you get those NFL and NBA players on a bull? Now that would be a show to see! It is absolutely the most messed up thing how much money they make. I'm a hard working single mom that gets ding ding ding no help from the daddy. I sit on benches a lot can I get paid millions haha :) Jewel and Ty you are wonderful beings and the best to you both. Good Luck. ..

I completely feel the same way! I'm from Coushatta, LA & have grown up around rodeo my entire life and competed numerous times barrel racing when I wasn't feeling quite up to par. It has always been my feelings that if you want something bad enough, you go through the pain. I am so happy that they have real genuine people on DWTS this season. All you ever see is the folks that barely have ever had to lift a finger to do things during their lives. And you and Ty and two of the most down to earth, nicest people! Oh and I loved that look you gave Len the other night when he said Ty should hit the trail hahaha, priceless! Two thumbs waaaayyyy up for posting this blog! I vote for Ty every week *text votes, online votes, call votes lol* and I know the ARMY will be behind in every week too! ..

Well Sister, I fully agree. That is what is different about us and the rest of the world. We live the real thing all the others get to glide on thru. The COWBOYS & COWGIRLS are the one that live the true life. We work hard, I mean HARD, for everything we have. We are not handed anything on a silver platter. It is called truth and dedication. More people need to have our VALUES & RESPECT for life & the life we live. The world would probably be a better place. Things need to be fair. If you can do it, do it & if not, go home!!!!!! ..

I agree 100% that if you can't perform, you need to gracefully back down or out. I don't like the new rule of scoring on the rehersal taping. No one brings their "A" game to a rehersal, you save that for the performance. It's sad to see anyone go but Chuck and Julianne deserved better and I think Melissa knew that if you watched her face. ....And you are right about Ty truly being what this show is all about. He went from stiff robot, stick up his backside man to a hip swaying, taking command kind of guy and for him to go through everything he has that was so far out of his comfort zone, he deserves to win it for that alone! :) But I will say it again after seeing Ty without his shirt, I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU! LOL! Oh and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED your dress on Monday, it was spectacular! ....The army is assembling and we are gaining numbers everyweek, Ty will be in the finals if we have anything to say about it!..

I was shocked when Melissa didn't get bounced. I have to agree with you about "No ride, No score!"....Either Cowboy (or Cowgirl) up or stay in the truck! If you can't play hurt, you can't really play at all.....Congrats to Ty on hanging in there and representing the "working class" of the world. Yeah, he's a star, but he's earned his "stardom" with his heart and his guts...

i am in TOTAL agreement with you! as a matter of fact, when chuck & juliann were announced as being the next couple to go, i said to my husband "i'd be pissed if i had lost to someone that didn't even compete!" you're right...melissa should have voluntarily stepped down and out of the competition to allow a couple that did compete, to continue. i like melissa too and i think she's cute as a bug...but that would have been the right thing for her to do. you must be so proud of Ty...he has come a looong way, regardless of what len says! i loved it when Ty said "i know i'm not doin' great in len's world...but i'm doin' better than he'd be doin' in mine"...I LOVED IT! and Ty is doin' great! i have DWTS recorded on my dvr and i keep watching team tango's dance over and over because it is just mindblowing how in sync they all were and how perfect Ty and Chelsie's performance was! so eat crow len...Ty is going all the way! We're gonna make sure of it here in the great state of Texas!!! ..

Jewel, I agree with you. I'm not so sure I like this rule either. Perhaps the scores should only have gone to Chuck and Julianne and Shawn and Mark. It's too bad Melissa got hurt but you're right if she didn't do the group dance, she shouldn't have gotten a score for it.....I'm looking forward to Ty and Chelsie next week. You are not opinionated, you are RIGHT! I almost get why they score a rehearsal - even though it's wrong...but why did Melissa get points from the Team Mambo dance? There was no way to judge her in that...yet she still reaped the benefits. I know Ty doesn't want us to bash the system, but, our family thinks maybe it's time for LEN to hit the trail! ....Best of luck from your New Mexico fans!..

Jewel, I totally AGREE with you 100%. I really like Melissa, I hurt for her and was truly upset how things happened for her on the Bachelor and I have rooted for her on the DCC show, but this time I am truly disappointed. She SHOULD NOT have received scores for the group dance...she did not participate and I didn't think it was right and/or fair. She said herself she hoped to be ok to dance next week. So I guess that means there may be a chance she won't be up to it? She should have stepped down and let Chuck and Julianne continue on, what's right is right, that would have showed character and integrity and I'm not saying she doesn't have any, I just think if she's got a cracked rib, that is not going to heal in a few days and she should have bowed out....look at last year...Misty May Trainor....she did the right thing upon her injury. It's just too bad for Chuck...
