Halito! "Vanity of Vanities, saith the preacher; all is Vanity." [Ecclesiastes 12:8] The Holy Bible, which I presume to be older than each of the Cultures referenced gave us the word Ethiopian, associated with the world's oldest documented Ethnic Culture. The word Ethiopian was synonymous with the word "Black". We have also seen the word written as aethiopian. The Holy Bible in the Song of Solomon gave us; "I am black, but comely, O ye daughter of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon." [Song of Solomon 5]. "Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyards have I not kept." [Song of Solomon 6]. Solomon was the son of David and Bathsheba; third king of Israel; under his reign the kingdom reached its zenith. He was noted for wisdom and gift of expression. The Old Testment books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, the Song of Solomon and the 72nd and 127th Psalms are attributed to him. Solomon built the Temple and was visted by the Queen of Sheba. How do we reconcile the fact that there was Biblical era use of the word Black in the old world and the fact that Indigenous Nations in the New world (whom scholars love to promote as having had no contact with one another) had a word for Black and Black People in Aboriginal Languages? Since the Indian Country Aboriginals were from an ancient and remote age, long before any Europeans ever touched the soil, that means the word Black was here long before European language arrived. Black had no negative use among Aboriginal Cultures, in fact Black denoted Power, Strength and was a source of great pride. Many of the greatest Aboriginal Leaders and Warriors used the word "Black" in the naming of their people, their children and their most noble or valiant rulers. Black Indians have a completely different view of "Black" than most African Americans. We are not ashamed of Black. Our ancestors embraced Black and we take a very dim view of those referring to our Ancestors as "sinners" for embracing one of the Great Spirits most sacred colors. Black is one of the four sacred Colors of the four directions, this reality is embraced by 100% of Indigenous Nations, even Indigenous Cultures from other Countries (like Tibet) have the same understanding of the same sacred Colors, which includes "Black". Once African Ancestored people in America drop their Eurocentric man-made confusion and unreasonable hatred of "Black," perhaps they will be ready to hear the rest of the truth about themselves. Sincerely, Angela Molette (Tuscaloosa Ohoyo) Black Warrior Woman
