Who Gives Kudos:

October 16, 2009 - Friday
There is a lot to making of a novel. It takes time. Getting it from idea to print in less than a year takes a miracle. You may be amazed at the piles of manuscripts publishers have on their desks. Even when one secures the contract, it takes time for a copyeditor to read the book 3 times and make suggested changes (mine needed comma help and to be told "no you can't do that in an airport anymore."), and working on the design.

Love On A Carousel's first chapter and cover has now gone through what is called the first pass. I rejected the font size for the interior design first time through. The second time I approved it. The rest of the chapters should go fairly fast. I received the book cover design yesterday. I reject the back cover. I have to fax my correction out this morning. They put the author bio and picture on the back cover ON TOP of the horses!!! I felt it looked too conflicting and chaotic making it difficult to read. I want the bio to go inside the back cover. I always take polls with my friends. They agreed that no writing should go over the horses. (See horses on CD cover on profile page. Book will look like that.)
A novel averages 200 or more pages... or else it is a short story. This one will have about 312 pages.

In the meantime, I am writing a novel called 'I Give You A Tiger'. I shouldn't tease you with what it's about because Love On A Carousel is not even out yet. It will be a year or more before 'Tiger' will be out. It just takes that long. Add a soundtrack...it takes longer. But it is so FUN!!

I have my Tiger story almost done as far as the story goes. I thought I was done, but last night I wrote an additional 3 chapters for the conclusion. I will next work hard on the character biographies. This will help know what my character's mannerisms are to make them move and come alive on the page. People don't just stand and sit. LOL
Then I have to get words right. The punctuation. The structure. The timelines, etc., etc.,
I have six songs for this story. One song I wish I could have a PeterStroudJeffTrottGregMartin-type guitarist on it...or TheAllmanBrothersRufusHuffKentuckyHeadhunter-type band to play it.  Yeah...in my dreams, Right?
I also have another novel I am working on. I have 28,000 words and the scenes drafted out. I don't just stare at the wall all day. Well sometimes. LOL JK
My next blog should have a guestimated time on when to expect Love On A Carousel novel and CD at Amazon and your Barnes and Nobles, and other stores.

Till the next time.   Thanks so much to all of you for reading this.  xoxox
