Current mood: tired Category: Life
There’s times when you drive home on a Saturday evening/Sunday morning and you can honestly say to yourself about the evening that just passed: these were the times I was born to have. I just had one of those awesome nights.
Sometimes it’s not necessary to see hundreds, or even 50, or 5 for that matter, people in front of your nose when you’re playing to still feel like rocking the fuck out anyway. Earlier this evening we played at a birthday show of Katrien and Jolien (who is the girlfriend of our former loyal roadie Peter) in Tongeren and we had a friggin’ BLAST. It was our first time back on stage after a break which lasted a few months during which we were writing our new record, and sure we didn’t play our tightest set, and sure we fucked up more than one song, but it felt so damn good to be playing again. We’ve (temporarely) refreshed the live-set a bit with some (new) old and some new (new) stuff, and well… it was just plain old I’ve-got-a-ring-in-my-ears-now-fun. So big thumb up to Katrien and Jolien for providing us with a stage. Hip hip hurray for both of you! Oh, and for the Tongeren people: the guy called Jo’s a hero, haha! Linoleum!
Like I said, we’ve been writing and generally taking a break from playing the last few months, and right now we’re gearing up to take the big leap once again and lock ourselves in the studio for a few weeks. I think we must be about 70 % ready with the new stuff right now (which is way more than last time, and Recover turned out fine in my opinion), so we’ve got some dots and ends to connect, some lyrics to write, and there we go; another record! We’ll release it somewhere this spring or summer. Since there’s no label backing us this time around we can do pretty much whatever we want, so no time limits etc. That’s a good thing.
I’ve got to be honest, I’ve been thinking about the entire Second Base-thing a lot lately, with random thoughts like “is this still going anywhere?”, and “is this worth the money and time?”, but when I check out the new songs, and I think about tonight, it’s all crystal-clear to me. Jeff, Sam, me and so much of you all are part of a family that’s there to stay, one that gets its brothers and sisters through dark times and stays with them when summer comes. We’ll see how this all goes, but I’ll be riding the ride as intense as I can, that’s for sure.
So okay, gotta sign off before I get too filosofical (Jeff wil laugh at me again during rehearsal!). Sayonara friends, and thanks for the past years. See you soon, on the road or so.

- Sixtoys r.i.p. // shit. - I fucking hate people who act like they’re the gods of fucking integrity but actually enjoy fucking others over. It’s not all a matter of perception, some people ARE just assholes. But that has absolutely nothing to do with anything mentioned before in this blog.
