"Radio Control hits the pavement already pedaling in advanced gear with the quick-moving “Riding Bikes.” The two-person tandem that is Radio Control simply throws everything at the wall, and surprisingly enough, most of it sticks. After a rallying call of guitar that makes it sound like Radio Control is shoutin' of out from the rooftops and is ready to go, the dual male-female vocals kick in a wobbly and semi-breathless performance, as if actually recorded while riding their bikes (or maybe one of those huge tandem-bikes) in the city of Boston, dodging delivery trucks, car doors and savage swallow-you-alive potholes. The scenery remains slightly familiar, as if the duo is choosing to ride (at high speeds, of course) around the same three blocks rather than exploring the entire geography of the place. At just under three minutes, this song is just short enough to make it work. The vocal performance leads the track through the madhouse of asphalt-borne obstacles while the 1-2 of a drum machine pushes the small spoked gears that drive the big spoked wheels of the song. The three-chord circle of the guitar continues throughout the song, but it is more of a set-dressing in light of the commanding presence of the vocals and the drumbeat. There is a slight mini-breakdown to the song, as if the bike riders are pausing to lean over and click the “Fill-In” button on the drum machine before blowing through the red light and into the wild paved yonder of our lovely infrastructure."
