As we all feel the crunch on our wallets with less cash to burn on frivolous goodies please stop to think before you burn that buck at your local mall, or cheap-o depot where everything is:
a) mass produced
b) probably made in china (our consumerism is devouring their country and polluting the heck out of it....just in case you're a fan of the ostrich approach to world affairs)
c) due to it's cheap production won't last through the summer

We truly are at the cusp of change right here, right now....not just in politics, or the economy, but on the brink of the kind of change that can send a message and lead to healthier and more creative paths in life for everyone.

This could be your creative revolution, and it can be made with the simplest act....Where you spend that crisp green back on your next payday. Ugh, I hate saying this, but "money" makes the world go round ( at least in the eyes of the big guys), and where you spend it sends the message LOUD and clear. You have all the power, whether you know it or not.

The corporations will survive this big mess, and continue to thrive...
But at this moment, the creative collective is struggling to stay afloat, magazines like BUST, Bitch, and Venus Zine could fade into silence in the near future.
The quirky girl down the street who recycles old clothes into a beautiful new creations may not make rent, and watch her dreams come crashing down before her eyes.
Organic farmers will fall in the wake of cheaper and unhealthy foods sliding onto the plates of those trying to save a buck.

I personally adore all things hand made, vintage, organic, etc. They embody the love and time that was put into them, and always manage to make me smile in a way that mass produced items can't quite touch.

So please make a small investment in your local downtown businesses, farmer's markets, ETSY.com, etc.
I know it's difficult to go full throttle and abandon all that is alluring about Target and Forever21,(my personal weakness comes in the flavor of Target knick-knacks) but little steps make the big difference!

Times of change like this leave the world buzzing with potential, so let's stand up and send a message of love, support, creativity, and respect for each other and what we leave behind in this world...

Heck...you might even find your creative river bubbling beneath an unscratched surface, waiting for a moment like this for you to tap into your own potential! Variety is the spice of life, and with each of us unleashing our individual perspective, think of what an amazing array of choices we would have!

There is absolutely no sin in you, Frankie. incredibly well written, from the heart, and the sentiment is 100 per cent on the button. We are on the verge of a major change in the way we live, and it will reverberate through the next few decades. It is the thinkers and the doers of your generation who'll be at the forefront of the change. More power to you, girl, and the quicker we start the change the better off we will all be.
