When was it ever right to exploit the smaller guy just because you are lazy to work your ass off?

The LIST before you is a testament of how some people have a
twisted sense of WORK. They gather a few of their friends and put up a
gig without any preparation. No capital? No problem. Like thieves, they
unashamedly coerce upstarts and veterans alike to give them money so
they don’t have to work for it. Talk about getting the cake and eating
it too. They pose for Myspace and Friendster pictures to show off how
tight their new bangs are while the bands they meet in these social
networking sites and forums---who in turn risk their lives at night and
spend for their own instruments, transportation, and food --- fork out
their last Centavo so they could fucking play 2 songs, 3 if they are
lucky, in a gig without compensation, where 30+ bands are lined up for
the night. With no remorse, some of these productions act self
righteous as if they are helping the scene without acknowledging the
fact that what they are doing is wrong no matter how anyone looks at
it. They are armed with lame excuses and corrupted insights. They don’t
WORK. They make the bands do ALL the WORK from advertising to selling
tickets. They will make you pay through the different scams they have
set before you play. Pay to play? It is time to flip your middle finger
in front of their faces. These unscrupulous productions leech on hard working musicians
so they can sit pretty and not lift their asses. Productions produce.
Musicians play music. Plain and simple. It was never the musician’s job
to give the production the money they should have in the first place. These producers don’t just make you pay, they’ll even force
you to bring your guests right there and then so your guests can chug
the beer and cover the producer’s bar guarantee. Some even will make
you sell tickets. If you can’t sell them, you can always pay for them
through G-cash, E-load or bank transfer. Some sell membership cards
that will lessen your remittance balance the next time you play. Smart
monkeys they are.
Most of the people in the list are young and misinformed but
have the capacity to change. While some, are old enough to know better.
The others in the list sadly are also musicians who betray the trust of
fellow musicians. The more thick faced will change their names so they
can continue to exploit other hungry young musicians. Know that they
still own the faces that are rightfully shamed by the musicians who
have been exploited by their ways, and by the scene who has been
forewarned and armed by this effort.
Our solidarity across all scenes apart from ours remains
strong. Unite to kill as one…against those who use our own unique
cultures and expressions for their own ends. We urge all musicians to
stand their ground and boycott all the productions listed. This list
will go on. When someone walks the right path, their names will be
erased. We are hoping that few will remain. Contact us, if you seek to
add to the list. The scene doesn’t need all these scum.
