Mejo naliligaw ata pagkaintindi ng mga iband tao dito sa ticket selling gig na sinasabi namin. Yung iba kasi dito hindi gets e, dakdak pa rin para lang may masabi.
Let me just clarify it more. Draw the line perhaps like we always did... if you read the scumlist.
Ticketselling---drawing the line on the sand:
THE GOOD:
Ticket selling is not bad. As long as productions do it. Bands can help too. As long as they are not forced, coerced or put aside. As long as it is not mandatory---such that you have to guarantee X amount of tickets or pay x amount or bring x number of guests for you to be able to play. As long as productions do their job well...plan it, fund it, plan B it. Everything will be fine. And I think bands will support it because it is a noble effort. A good gig is when musicians do their "job" and productions do their "job" well. If bands are brought in to a joint and well versed agreement that they will also sell tickets, make sure that the bands get part of a revenue too. Fair share. If it is for a BENEFIT gig wherein, bands play for the benefit of our community, bands must not be forced to play and pay or else the sincerity of the benefit will be compromised. And the production must give bands solid proof that what they "contributed" gets to the right hands.
THE BAD:
Now this is the kind of ticket selling/remittance "business" we are against from the get go. Ticket selling and the remittance practice is bad when bands are coerced, forced and leeched on to guarantee X amount of tickets or pay x amount or bring x number of guests for them to be able to play. No pay, no play. This happens because the productions don't have the proper starting funds to start a show and the production gets his/her capital from the mandatory remittances of the band. Or he's just a really corrupted money face or a lazy prick. Anyway, this production also forces bands to pay for him to cover the fees of the big guest bands while the little frontline bands don't get a cent. That's the shit that stinks. Or it can be that the band buys an ID to slash off a percentage of his remittance but he still pays to play without the fair treatment. Their slots aren't guaranteed too. They can be pushed off anytime, anywhere so the prod can accommodate a 30+ band lineup and his/her "tropa" bands and the big guest bands. So in effect, paying band gets pushed at 3am without anyone watching, with their repertoire slashed to "2 songs na lang". And there is always the band that won't get to play because the bar needs to close at 3am. And what does mr. production here do? Does he give back the band's remittance? No. No refund. lolz They REQUIRE bands to remit anywhere from Php300 to Php1000+++ but not one band who remitted got a fair share of the money. Only big celebrity band gets the money...but hey, they didn't remit.
Now you know. There is no excuse to sit on your ass and do nothing. No compromise.
