The Vampire Diaries
TV Show premieres tonight!
.. ..
I guess I’m about as happy as an Old Soul like me can get .
. . given the Vampire Diaries premiere that is.
I feel as if I need a divan to lounge on and say, “Oh, place that
bouquet between the roses and the mixed flowers.” You see, I had a birthday last week and the
Vampire Diaries Show is this week and I’m just awash in petals and balloons. I hereby thank everyone, from publisher to
agent to family to friend, for their kindness, and I promise I won’t forget it.
.. ..
Hey, and Kevin Williamson made a video spot saying that he
really liked my books and wanted to bring that world to life. He was sitting by a pile of Vampire
Diaries! I feel extremely honored to
have him say all that.
.. ..
And wait, there’s more—in another interview, Kevin
Williamson said that he read the first book, but didn’t think he would do The
Vampire Diaries because of its similarities to you-know-what even though he
knew TVD had been published a decade earlier.
But his assistant—a woman—came to him and said, “You have to read the
rest of these books—they have so much more than T*******—all this town
mythology and wonderful things.” So he read all the books and he changed his
mind completely.
.. ..
But that’s not the end.
The New York Times has an article
in its arts section that starts with something about how L.J. Smith, upon
reading T*******, must have wanted to send an armada of termites to S. M.’s
house! Finally, someone has taken up the
cause! And it’s a newspaper with such a
large circulation. Yes, I’m happy!
.. ..
And I won’t jinx the Vampire
Diaries TV show by talking about the reviews—no jinx, no jinx—but I feel
very happy with almost all of them. Only
People didn’t get it right, saying that it hoped Damon would make lots more
vampires, as the undead body count was too low.
The man who wrote it (perhaps in need of some Viagra?) apparently didn’t
realize that this is a love story, not Night
of the Living Dead. Let’s hope he
learns what “love triangle” means someday.
.. ..
I don’t know why I’m kibitzing about one article, when I
have so many fabulous reviews—even some who acknowledge that there is some
moral content in the show! Happy? I’m ecstatic.
.. ..
Break a fang, vampires!
